[Albion] Club cancelling ST due to non-attendance

Some of you may be aware that a long term Albion fan has decided not to renew his ST due to the fact that (allegedly) the club has cancelled his son’s ticket due to non-attendance. I had an operation to remove my prostate in October and had to miss some home games so I thought I would check in the ST T&C’s to find out what the club policy is regarding non-attendance. However, I can’t find anything in the ST T&C’s that stipulates how many games a ST holder must attend. There seems to be no limit for the 24/25 season on how many times you can offer your ticket for resale which tends to suggest that there is no minimum attendance rules but maybe this appears somewhere else in the club’s various T&C’s. Can anyone on NSC illuminate me?

Do you know where that is written in the club rules?
That was on the email a month ago which included the telling off about not sharing away tickets etc.

If people cant make games, but list it for sale, then im sure you'll hear nothing from the club. But if people continually miss games, and never list the ticket for sale, then its pretty understandable that at a point the club will then step in.....given how easy it is to list it for sale. Not sure what the tolerances are though.

Blimey Horace, nothing to do with the thread but I really hope you're ok. I guess we're at that age now :(

I think you need to personally attend 25% of home league games to be able to renew.
Actually - 25% to be able to auto-renew.

At that point it is discretionary - and may depend on as yet unpublished criteria.

If the holder hasn't gone at all - well they need to contact the club to see if they can renew - for all the club know they may have moved overseas, be in jail, or even dead. Although in some of those cases the direct debit will have possibly failed as well.

Half-season tickets already on offer
?? For the WSL. You’ll be looking in vain for any PL ticket packages. No need. Every game sells out and ST sold out earlier than ever before this year. And renewals were > 95%.

Now getting more ticket holders to show up - or share or sell unwanted tickets is more of a challenge.

It's this ^.

"Reserves the right" is key.

It is not clear when the club will actually refuse a renewal. It could well depend on how much the season ticket is listed on the exchange, or how long the waiting list is.
And I think also how the STH communicates with the club about the reason for low attendance … treatment for a serious medical condition etc. I’d like to think the club would act reasonably and with compassion if there was a very good reason why personal attendance was below the 25%.

If I were you, I’d write an email to the club explaining your situation.

The example you point out seems to be a great example of poor communication (on both sides) leading to a really bad situation for the fan involved. It might be worth getting ahead of the game here and firing off an email so you don’t suffer a similar fate. I’ve every confidence that the club will support your situation if they know about it.

I think as long as you put the ticket on the exchange if you can't attend, even if it doesn't sell, then you're likely to be OK.

My son (well, me on behalf of my son) received a bad-boy email as I didn't list his Palace ticket for resale. He was coming to the game, but was ill that day and, literally as we left home, the decision was made for him to stay at home and watch on TV.

In the haste to get to the game, I didn't get round to listing his ticket and that triggered an email. From the wording, it sounds like I may have forgotten to list his ticket for an earlier game this season. I have a vague recollection there was another one he couldn't come to.

Email wording:

We notice that you have not taken action to ensure your seat is occupied for two or more of the fixtures this season so far, including Crystal Palace. If we can assist you with this please contact supporter sevices at supporter.services@brightonandhovealbion.com
A reminder, the season ticket needs to be used by you, as the season ticket owner, for at least 5 out of the 19 home league matches.
If you are unable to attend a home league match we ask that you take one of the following actions:
SHARE YOUR TICKET
A £20 fee will allow you to share your season ticket with a MyAlbion+ member for the whole season or you can opt to pay a match by match fee!
Every season ticket holder is entitled to one free share per season.
Ticket Sharing Information
TICKET EXCHANGE
List your ticket on the exchange and if it sells, you'll receive a refund based on 1/19th of your season ticket price (minus a £1 fee)!
Ticket Exchange Information
TICKET UPGRADES
You can upgrade a concession (U10, U18, U21 or 65+) ticket for any home league match by paying the difference between the season ticket and match ticket cost.
Once you've done this, forward the ticket to the assigned friend or family member who will be attending the game.
Ticket Exchange Information
If you have any further questions, please visit our help pages or contact our Supporter Services team.
I emailed to explain the slip-up I'd made, and I'll be sure to not forget should the same happen in the future.
