Might not be Rock by some definitions but you have to have Ziggy Stardust in there.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers debut album (includes American Girl and Anything thats Rock and Roll) is better then "Damn the torpedoes" IMO.

You know, by coincedence, i downloaded American Idiot by Green Day today as for some reason never had on my iTunes and the CD is now ruined for some reason.

I haven't listened to it for ages, what bloody amazing album that is

Cheers all. A fair few of those I've got or listened to, but many others I haven't. As there's just so much I'm trying to limit myself to late 60's/early 70's classics of the heavy, folky or psychedelic metal variety at the moment.
Trying to avoid any of the wonderful alubums listed so far:

Edgar Broughton Band - Egdar Broughton Band
UFO - UFO 1
Judas Priest - Sad wings of Destiny

and slightly different

Slade - Alive!

I love a "live" Album. Favourites being

Seconds Out - Genesis
One more from the Road - Lynnyrd Skynyrd
Plays Live - Peter Gabriel
Live from Nowhere in Particular - Joe Bonamassa

Haven't read the whole thread but i put forward anything by Terry Reid, particularly The River or Seed of Memory lp's. I LOVE that man, such a great voice. Still touring, seen him before a pitiful crowd a number of times at Glasto (Dean is also featured at the beginning of the Glastonbury movie, from '71). Also playing komedia's studio bar (capacity 70 odd!) next month. The Raconteurs did a good version of Rich Kid Blues recently plus Rumer has covered a song of his for her new album. He's sorely underrated and a legend in my eyes.

Search youtube for dean glastonbury terry reid for a great performance

Anything with Ronnie James Dio in. I have always preffered the 'Dio' incarnartion of Black Sabbath since I saw them in Crawley 32 years ago. Probably seen that version live along with Heaven and Hell more than the Ozzy version .Also folliowed his solo band for many years . So when he died , I decided to buy the first three Rainbow albums . Made sense . I like Dio and I like Purple . Dio and Blackmore together sounded to good to miss. I was not disapointed !!!!!

If you want a slab of proper '70's classic rock , listen to the first three Rainbow albums.

Anything by UFO is a good shout and a great low priced compilation cd from Whitesnake called Whitesnake The Early Years.

This is the gutsy bluesy Whitesnake prior to their LA big hair transplant.
