classic - bought this in Rounder records for 99p

Thats inflation for you.My 12" vinyl copy came from the old Virgin Record store that was sited where Boots is now in North Street,it was a promo deal for 50p in 1974.

In those days Branson wasn't the total crook he became and did promos of Albums for the same price as singles.

Probably not heavy enough for some, but Damn The Torpedoes by Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers is pretty much a classic rock album. IMHO, like.

Quadrophenia and Who's next - The Who
Reckless - Bryan Adams
Eliminator - ZZ Top
Best of Fleetwood Mac (the Peter Green era of Fleetwood Mac)
Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix
Van Halen I and II

I was just going to post about Fleetwood mac's greatest hits - from the Peter Green era - just watching a documentary from channel 4 about peter green - fantastic music coming out of some very dark drugs and mental health stuff..... but he was described as the greatest British blues guitarist of all time. His "I need your love so bad" is elsewhere on here in a greatest guitar solos of all time thread.

Would also go along with Disraeli Gears by Cream, and raise it to Wheels of Fire by Cream - great studio album with a phenomenal live album to boot.

But to the OP, there's some stuff on here I think is great, and some I wouldn't give the time of day, and I am sure others would feel the same and about different albums. Make your own mind up.

Not quite rock, but a classic metal album is Slayer's Reign in Blood. A true masterpiece.

These things I say, may seem kinda cruel
So here’s something from my heart to you
Looking at you, reminds me of looking at the sun
And how the blind are so damn lucky

I rock out a bit to the Kvelertak album too. Norwegian growling.

If you've never given Death Metal a go, then try Entombed, their album Left Hand Path is a masterpiece of the genre, don't knock it till you've tried it.

Having problems uploading images:

Should also have shown album covers for:

Hawkwind's Space Ritual (first band I ever saw live, Worthing Assembly Hall, about 1974)

Black Sabbath Volume 4 (opening track, 'Wheels of Confusion' one of my all time favourite rock tracks).
