? Clarkson reported it because he knew he was out of order and that it could not be covered up. How you came to that conclusion only you know.

You're saying Clarkson was saying he'd get the producer sacked. Presumably you feel the reason, the motivation for Clarkson reporting the incident a week or so later was with a view to achieving that ?

I don't know if you're joking, but this concept of 'not grassing' is about as puerile as you can get. Where's the line to this? Should we grass on speeding drivers? Burglars? Rapists?

Is there a line or can it actually all be settled by a handshake? After all, it's all just banter innit.

Please don't mention the word grass. It will only cause someone to come on this thread whistling and urging people not to support the albion.

I'd put him, AA Gill and Piers Morgan and a very large fox in a black hole and ask them to fight it out.

Hopefully none would emerge......

fixed to make more interesting

I've been in this situation. A staff member who was outselling all others thus making me a lot of dosh and thinks he was unsackable. Would dictate working terms and upsetting ALL the other staff. He was sacked after too many problems. A happy shop is a better shop.

I am a fan of Clarkson, you would not find him trying to "out kitchen " you, like some politicians. However he had to be sacked, although in Clarkson's world he would have said sorry, and then both would have downed a bottle of Brandy.

I'd fire him. Don't understand how people can defend him. It doesn't matter if you like the show or not he HIT his boss. Any other workplace he'd be out on his arse and probably charged with assault.

It wasn't his boss he hit, it was an underling, which is far worse in my opinion, clarkson is an arrogant bully who will one day hopefully pick on the wrong person.

Okay then only honest answers please, what would you have done if you were the producer in question?

Me, I would have to had a go back at him, then when the dust had settled shook hands and win or lose found a bar and a have good laugh and drink with him and maybe a sizzling steak meal.

no telling teacher for me. Your turn.

What a great employer you would make then!

Nothing different to what he did. The producer was completely innocent and was punched and verbally abused and told he was to be sacked by Clarkson. The producer knew if he reported it he would be labeled as the person who killed Top Gear and be lynched by key board warriors on the Internet. It was Clarkson who reported it.
In the end the key board warriors are out in force so it has been proved whatever he did it really was a no win situation for the victim.

Exactly. Clarkson alone is responsible for the death of TG in it's current format but then had it run it's course already or maybe Clarkson thought it might have!! There are only so many engineered situations/stunts that you can film.

You're saying Clarkson was saying he'd get the producer sacked. Presumably you feel the reason, the motivation for Clarkson reporting the incident a week or so later was with a view to achieving that ?

Where did he say that? Clarkson turned himself in because in hindsight he probably realised he had overstepped the line. He was apparently ranting that the producer was sacked to the extent that the producer believed he had lost his job yet he still didn't report it!
