I was on the phone to my eldest son at 8.00pm UK time. He kept it on loudspeaker for me so I could hear the clapping, whistling, and saucepans banging for our frontline workers.

It was emotional.

So proud of the staff....and all you Brits there, applauding them.

Thank you x

Someone in Haywards Heath is persisting with the fireworks. Good effort but not as visually stimulating as it was when were doing it in the dark when this first started.

Close by in Shoreham?

We could hear what I'd also say was an air raid siren in Findon.

The fireworks had gone up a level or two tonight too.

Someone exploding a banger next to our dog a fortnight ago certainly added some zest to the proceedings.

Numbers and noise seemed to be down tonight in this corner of Mid-Sussex.

My son has smashed a large hole in my best cullender

He's not bad, he's just loyal.

Mrs Bozza just said to me "I've just googled Worthing air raid siren and look", turning round her laptop to show an NSC page.

She'd been taken here >>> https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/showthread.php?356955-Air-raid-siren-Worthing

She started reading out the posts one by one, including "Ulloa’s penalty is finally coming back down", at which point I did genuinely laugh out loud.

She then revealed that was my post.

Me and Mrs SS have been joining in - this week, rather than open the back door and clap-off with the neighbours, we just paused the TV and sat clapping in our living room.

Is it the act of clapping or being seen to be clapping that is the measure?

The question you asked was put in a different way but with the same underlying conundrum in this clip from the classic 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" starring David Carradine. It was an Eastern Western. I loved that programme...

"The bird sings in the forest. Does it seek to be admired for its song?"
