Here's hoping that WAS the last one. It's a shame participation in our street was down by about a third, but I guess people know Boris and Dominic have got this covered now.

Still a good number of people outside tonight to show some appreciation ...now its up to the government to work out some strategy for rewarding the work they have done ..goodness knows where the money will come from but something! Let’s hope that there wont be a need to repeat it ....well done NHS for looking after a lot of people

Another social with dubious distancing on our road. What was positive just three or so weeks ago has become completely "look at me", a passive/aggressive competition for who can make the most noise and say hello to more people on the road. Pretty disgusting when the whole point was going to be appreciation for others.

What felt natural and right in the peak has degenerated into the usual social cock-waving. Nurses? What nurses.

This.

Now down to a we make the most noise and holler mob ten houses down the road. Starts earlier each week, ends later.

Everyone else more discrete.

I lost touch with it a few weeks in as I knew that things will eventually return to 'normal' in the future.

Frontline workers in this country are rarely given the credit due. I always been given been given dismissive acknowledgement when I've banged on about the value of shop workers, bus drivers, hospital porters, who keep our society going.

They'll be the ones who suffer most when paying for it too.

I knew it would take a major crisis to prove my point. Then I'm just a 'wanky lefty'- as one former boss called me.

Everyone out in out street again tonight, other than our immediate neighbours.

Their door remained closed throughout.

I don't think that's because they had already decided that "enough is enough", but more because they had a ****ING HOUSE FULL OF PEOPLE. KNOBS.

It's correct to call it a day on this now.

But I'll always remember the first one, near West Worthing station, where I could hear an explosion of echos all around Worthing town, from every direction.

It genuinely brought a tear to my eye.

Great news everybody....

Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse....

Clap for Carers is to return under a new name of Clap for Heroes, the initiative's founder has said.

The weekly applause for front-line NHS staff and other key workers ran for 10 weeks during the UK's first coronavirus lockdown last spring.

Founder Annemarie Plas has tweeted that it would return at 20:00 GMT on Thursday.

Ms Plas said she hoped the initiative would "lift the spirit of all of us" including "all who are pushing through this difficult time".

Brilliant idea, lets get all the elderly out on the streets in the freezing cold and pissing rain just before bedtime once a week. That’ll help the NHS.

I didn’t clap in March and I certainly wont be clapping now.

The whole thing is childish.

That's a really nice thing to say when people are being worked to the bone 60 hours a week and hospital staff are at breaking point.

Its a gesture, that's all...

A lot of people are working their backsides off and always have done. Not just health workers.

Sorry I not looking to argue or say they are working harder than them etc,

I just found the whole thing patronising, as did all of my neighbours given none of us clapped.

If we want to thank all public sector workers, lets improve their pay and conditions rather than clap.

She’s getting slaughtered

:lolol: Apart from "Get stuffed", this is my favourite reply so far:

"...ends up with mass gatherings outside hospitals cos people want to get their 5 minutes of fame in local papers. Setting off fireworks. Ask someone to clap with their hands for a minute and they can't do that without trying to be a billy big bollocks."
