CKR charged with making homophobic gestures at AMEX

Silly old bat
O dear, someone's been offended on NSC again, whatever next. He has allegedly broken the law and he will get a punishment no biggie, just hope the Albion fans (me included) who sing about Coppell having a disease don't get upset when the opposition fans with equally offensive lyrics about boyfriends and the like.

I've just re-read the thread and don't see anyone offended on Nsc.
He will only get punished if he is found guilty, as he is entitled to a fair trial like anyone else.
For the record, Liz Costa has nothing to do with this case, nor Sarah.

If any player was ever to do the equivalent racist gestures ( and we can imagine what they would be ) on the pitch, then they would probably be banned from playing for a very, very long time.

This has nothing to do with crowd chants about holding hands etc.

Would be interesting to see if he was found guilty or not.

If I was the judge I would order him to do meet and greet at pride next year

At his first fans' forum, at Worthing, if I remember rightly, Steve Coppell admitted to the fact that he liked the fact that Albion fans sang "his" song.

but inferring it is an insult is actually racist ...ha ha the knots liberals tie themselves in !

If someone deems it an insult and reports it, it's then up to the CPS and maybe a jury to decide whether it's an insult or not. Very much in the same way they decide if someone smacked someone in the face or the other person head butted their fist. No liberal knots I am afraid.

If a footie fan is convicted they can get, if it's considereed bad enough, a banning order from grounds. That's right, isn't it? So why shouldn't that be open to the magistrates for footballers? As far as I can see it's precisely the same as, say a cab driver getting banned for drink-driving. They lose their livelihood but that's their problem. Can't do the time, don't do the crime.

How can he plead not guilty if there are 100s, possibly 1000s of witnesses?

Anyone can plead not guilty and opt to be tried by their "peers", its a cornerstone of British justice.
(Bit like the lad before us a while back for stealing a phone, caught by the owner and a policeman, admitted in interview that he had it and his entire defence was "I ain't a thief")
