Our ability to sign strikers who don’t score is close to unparalleled.

But it’s clear Potter wants a Welbeck back up so it does make sense. Maybe the thinking is someone who’d be happy to be back up to Welbs for a season or two while we wait for some of our investments in youth to develop.
Be nice to find someone who is mobile AND scores more than occasionally though wouldn’t it?

Exactly. We are a team who miss too many chances. Why add to the problem?

He certainly appears to have a great all round game in the style of Welbeck:

https://youtu.be/SJjRe0TeLRg

His career goal ratio of 1 per 323 minutes played (in a lot of poor leagues along with 5,244 minutes in Serie A) is pretty alarming. But then, in Welbeck’s career he has 1 goal per 271 minutes but those stats are pretty much all from the EPL and other top level competitions and his England strike rate was 1 per 145 minutes played which is extremely good.

In summary, if he comes, we ain’t getting a prolific goalscorer by any means but he could probably do the job Danny Welbeck has done this season so far (no goals but great play otherwise).

His attributes radar is identical to Welbeck' s and yes his goal per minutes is less, but his total goal and assists numbers combined do match up.

Ok some players haven’t worked out (we know who they are) and we haven’t uncovered the next Kane or Vardy (yet) and but Hemed, Maupay , Baldock, Welbeck and Murray are some of the best signings the club has ever made. In its history . Given the goals they’ve scored, their contributions to promotion and our success as a PL club. And further back Ulloa and Barnes and Murray v 1 weren’t too bad either.
“Close to unparalleled “ is a bit OTT for even NSC .

Only Muzza and Maupay in the prem era are good enough IMHO

To clarify, I mean in terms of goals scored

It seems that there is a lot of competition for his signature so those who give him the thumbs down might be able to rest easy.

Of those you quote, only Murray was what you could call prolific. The others are great players (I’m a particular fanboy for Baldock whose role in our promotion season is underrated), but none are prolific. We’ve had a few that got away (Nunez, Toney) so I think even the club team would say they’d like to find the ‘special’ one.

Agreed it’s far more nuanced (with even some successes ) than Albion “are close to unparalleled in having strikers who don’t score”.
And yes it depends on the benchmark (“prolific” ? “great players” ? "kept us up", "XG") etc
All our strikers have scored ! Just not as much as we would have liked. (like most other clubs and their strikers)

Naylor does appear to believe something may happen. What does Swanny think?

Translation ?

Not only Empoli, Brighton also pushes for Christian Kouamé, an Ivorian striker of Fiorentina who started the season in Serie A very well, playing as a protagonist especially in the debut match against Cremonese at the Franchi.

Graham Potter's team, which has started the Premier season at its best, could offer Fiorentina a ransom loan conditional on the overall number of appearances of the player during the season.

On Kouamé there is also Brighton, therefore, in addition to Empoli, which talked about it with Fiorentina as part of the negotiation that also involves Zurkowski and Bajrami, with the latter who is getting closer and closer to dressing purple.

Just been subbed on against Napoli.

He must be a long way away from leaving. Luckily, Napoli hatchet man Østigård remains on the bench.
