Not sure how you make it three weeks.

Those links are dated 7 and 8 July and the one BOF put up was dated 14 July and he said "That cut deep last week. It really, really got to me", but you just accept that the club's side of the story is right?

Can you confirm that McGhee was in the USA for most of July? I can't see why Iwelumo would make that up and it rather suggests that he might not have been up to speed and made his comments to his mate Naylor about withdrawing the contract once he realised he'd cocked up. Naylor did do a lot of positive PR spin for McGhee, after all.

I see nothing in Iwelumo's statements that doesn't make sense, so I ask again, why would the club expect him to turn up when he isn't contracted to them? I guess that's where we keep going wrong with these players we hope to sign each summer. They just don't turn up for training.

McGhee would have been on holiday in June not July. The players report back for training at the beginning of July.

Oh who gives a stuff anyway.

Precisely.

But that does suggest the whole thing was over earlier than I thought! I guess McGhee was just hoping he didn't get another club and would come grovelling back.

All history now, and we'll never know if he'd have done so well for us, anyway.

Truce?

He asked to come back the following year and McGhee turned him down.

Truce.

Most people on here seem to think he had dodgy knees and would never last the winter.

Truce.

Which I think was one of Mcghee biggest mistakes, if not his biggest.

Towards the end, I pretty sure Mcghee had realised the mistake he had made.

I think he made the right decision. Dont come grovelling back after a year somewhere else. Iwelumo had never set the world alight at Stoke in the Championship and I doubt many expected him to do so at Colchester.

I don't remember being that disappointed when he didn't re-sign.

Sadly we are Brighton fans and he is a professional footballer who is in it for the money.

He wanted to come back but wanted assistance with relocation expenses. McGhee said no. He also added he was "not good enough for the championship", so therefore I think it was a pretty acrimonious affair all round.

Tabloid thread as usual, he has been called up for the "B" squad to play Ireland at Airdrie's stadium so hardly the SENSATION that he playing for Scotland.

He is about 8th choice as strikers go and 8th choice for SCotland means he is still dreadful and is only in the squad to shut him up moaning that he should be playing for us.

But can't be as bad as Gary O'Connor :D

Classic example of a player with some ability who needs just the right circumstances to shine and will probably only be at his peak for a short time......which seemingly is now. Good luck to him.
