Will always be a legend and a perfect gentleman in my eyes but he seemed to get more and more defensive as time went on with us and he seems to have taken that mentality to Forest. Top man and once a good manager but I fear his day is done. Tony Bloom made a hard, maybe harsh but ultimately the correct decision when he sacked CH. Long live the King.

Hughton needs reliable, attacking players. He had those at the Albion with Murray, Knockaert, Hemed and Baldock, but he doesn't have that at Forest. The squad is weaker than it was last season. He needs a left-back, creative midfielder and a couple of strikers, and if he can't get them I think he will struggle.

It is ironic that rivals Derby have signed Baldock and he got the winner vs Hull tonight - this is a player Hughton knows well.

I'd be tempted to try and bring in Connolly from us and Jebbison from Sheff Utd, both on loan. I think Forest fans would enjoy watching that pair.

I was actually a tiny bit envious when they chose Hughton but every dog has its day - I do think that marriages of manager & club have a large element of luck, so few managers are actually serially successful....

Have to say I'm surprised at their poor start, agree that their squad isn't up to much but would still back them to grind out results to survive with a bit in hand. Hope Hughton turns it around, he did so much for us but we parted at the right time.

Is it just the fact he dared to talk Forest up as a "big club" when he took over there or is it the same old weird satisfaction that some on here seem to get from former players/managers failing when they leave the Albion?

Hughton will always be a legend to me.
I think he had got us as far as possible and it was time to part.

However wish him nothing but the best in the future and hope he does well at Forest.
As to them being a big club.
Maybe not at this time but in my lifetime they have won the league, FA Cup, League Cup x4 and European Cup x2.

Fair bit bigger than us then.

Went back to work too soon? He was out of work for some considerable time between the Albion dismissal and taking the Forest job.

The guy is well into his 60's anyway, and couldn't wait for ever.

Who wants him to fail?

"Turned them around"... they were five games into the season when Sabri Lamouchi, who took pretty much the same squad to 7th place the season before, got sacked. Chris took over and lead them to a not that impressive 17th place despite having a squad that would make a lot of Championship teams jealous (the talk last season about his squad being poor was horseshit).

However the squad was too big and now they've shipped 15 players but only a few of them had any impact last season. That said, their squad looks thin and its more justified this time around to say it needs strengthening if they are to compete for playoffs (which is what they expect). Its still good enough to reach mid-table, but in order to win games in football you have to allow your players to play football and Chris isnt doing that, for whatever reason. He appears very afraid of getting sacked and as a consequence .the whole team appears to be afraid of everything.

After each game there is very little self-reflection from him, its just talk about strenghtening the squad which doesnt nothing good with the already low confidence, and with Olympiakos being knocked out of the CL qualifiers the owner Marinakis is going to have to cover his "main" teams financial losses making those magical external solutions appear unlikely.

Over his career its obvious that CH is a competent manager but Nottingham Forest was probably not the best choice - a bit of a hole - and he is not really helping himself this time around, just digging deeper.

I cant see him survive there for long. Maybe he can keep his job if they lose against Stoke as well, but the game against Derby after that will be immensly important, but even a win there wouldnt give him much time. In the summer they recruited a new CEO, who appears to be a lot more DoF than the average CEO, from Barnsley and it would be far from shocking if he wanted to bring in his own man for the manager role.

Maybe it will be the best for everyone. Nottingham might get some results and CH might get a slightly less impossible job, perhaps taking over Ireland or something.

I don’t think it’s so much ill feeling or revelling in his failure, more of “not really that surprised”
His tactics, substitutions and selections towards the end of his time with us, were questionable and those very same questions are being asked already by supporters of Forest.

Of course no one wishes failure towards someone who was instrumental in our promotion.

Literally did nothing as a manager and his best days as a player were 30 years ago, so I would definitely say he is yesterday's man...

He could do with taking over at a 'Big Fish, Small Pond' club. One with a good chance of being near, or at, the top of the table. Just something to get his mojo back.
