And just to add, our lovely Tel, apparently charges for anything he does.

As do most celebs and in fairness so would I. My local club wanted Vera Lynn to make an appearance on one occassion and she wanted £2000 and she only lives 5 miles away, and this was just to open a servicemens charity show and speak for no more than 1 minute.

No-one get paid for Children in Need, except the one mentioned who doesn't get paid anymore.

Of course if you work for a charity full time, you'd expect to get paid.

I've always felt a little uneasy about how in order to raise money you are expected to be entertained in some way, but I guess that's the way of grabbing peoples attention.

I understand HSBC and BT give their services for nothing for Children and Need, and after this year the money raised in total over the years will probably hit half a billion pounds.

It used to be a publicans bonus to hold a 'charity' night in the pub where the group or entertainers gave their services and you held a raffle etc in aid of the charity and the governor earnt good money through the till with the increased takings the night brought in..
