Good call - I have told my little one that sometimes she will hear bad words but what goes on at footie stays at footie!!! I have heard her on numerous occasions waving her hands when the goalie is kicking doing the "yourrrr shiiitttttt arrrrrggg" but I have never ever heard her do it outside the Amex - and we sit in the North!!!

My 9 year old's version is "You're chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiips aaaaaarrrrggghhhhh."

My boy was 7 last year and a season ticket holder he loves it, the sweet shop is helpful (in the east don't know if there's one in the west) drink and crisps. Just be prepared for trips to the toilet at inopportune moments

The perfect age to start. I started taking my son at the same age. I was determined that he would support his local team.
We were season ticket holders at Withdean, and he loved it...but the Amex just blows him away. It would have been incredible to have started him off there.
He is now 15, and sentenced to a lifetime of following the Albion. I hope that your Godson gets the same sentence!

The first game I took my son to (aged 7) was Ipswich away. I warned him that any bad language he heard was not to be copied outside the ground, but infact it was fine.

He loves going to games now, and as others have said make sure you have layers and a hat. Get a kids meal deal, if I remember right it costs the same as an adult pie but in addition you get juice, toy, chocolate.

Take my two lads to the Amex and the youngest was 6 at the start of last season. He absolutely loves the experience, and I know (from experience of seeing my first game at the Goldstone at 8 years old with my Dad) that he will forever be grateful to me for introducing him to the Albion. He has been on countdown for the past week for tomorrow night

With all the recent Hilsborough news, it brings back just how bad football was back in the 80's.

Back then it didn't bother me, as a bloke and not minding the odd push & shove all being part of the fun but few families went to football then and it's not hard to see why. It's so much better now with safe stadia and I don't think there's anywhere else as family orientated as watching the Albion. All ages, all genders, fantastic.
