Yep, was struggling to remember the name of that one. Has it gone as well?

Yes - in the early eighties, I think.

I was a regular in the seventies and it was a great pub - the old public bar and saloon bar set-up that worked so well. Great bar food at lunchtime. Then they made it all one bar, attracted a totally different clientele and the end came very quickly.

i reccomend the Wilkes head about 10 minutes from chichester located in Eastergate nr barnham, was recently voted pub of the year for sussex and surrounding counties, and is know in for national pub of the year so well worth the trip! roast dinners i believe are reasonable prices and you will not find a better pint of ale anywhere in that area, if that is what your taste, there is no sky sports and their is a childs play area outside with a big beer garden. the pub itself is country inn and very quiet surroundings. well worth the trip you will not be dissapointed!!

Well, thanks for all the advice and I can confirm without exaggeration that the Nags Head was amazing! Had a great table set out for us for 25, service was excellent, the carvery was also as good as I've had in a carvery with generous servings meat, and all the veg was still crunchy but cooked well and very hot. Definitely pass on the recommendation to anyone wanting a very good roast dinner in Chichester!

Ha, yes, perhaps Baby Spice reads NSC as well, as she was also having lunch in there at the same time!

Yep I saw her, on a table with a billion kids ;0) wondered why little ones kept going up to this woman asking her to sign their napkins, didn't realise it was her until she stood up to leave.
