hence the Cross of St. George in the club badge

422Barcelona_FC_badge.jpg

The St. George's cross is there because Sant Jordi (Catalan way of saying St. George) is the patron saint of Catalunya.

The red and yellow stripes on the top right of the badge are are taken from the flag of Barcelona (the city), which is a variation on the senyera, the flag of Catalunya.

How about the red and blue stripes on the bottom?

For fucks sake. Why do the European teams have to make such heavy weather of the English clubs?

Because the English teams are always physically more powerful, and also usually not that far behind technically.

Great goal.

Been waiting for Messi to have a go at Cole. Just had an easy pass by him, and done Lampard at the same time. More of that please!

Those are their club colours.

And are attributed as being the school colours of an English public school, as previously attended by a pair of English brothers who were among the founders of Barcelona FC in 1899...

'Barca: A People's Passion' by Jimmy Burns is a fantastic history/resource on FC Barcelona and a fine read as well
