SHIT signings.

Surely some shit signings would be more accurate.
Torres, Reina, Mascherano (sp?) can't be described as shit and would sell for a lot lot more than he brought them for. Include Alonso in that as well

Torres at £20m, and Reina at £6m[?] were both excellent signings.
Impressive profit on Alonso, but what is that worth if you blow it on Aquilani, and the resulting failure [to reach the CL] costs you a lot more?

They listed it all in the Times on Tuesday. He's spent [NET] £80m in 5 years, made HUNDREDS of player trades, and ended up with a squad, where his second best striker is David Ngog.

There's no defending him, IMO.

If Liverpool get the £70m, they can't turn around and spend it on prospects.

Gillett and Hicks have to shed £100m of debt by the end of the summer. All the dosh they get in for selling Torres goes right back out to the banks who financed the purchase of the club in the first place.

Pains me deeply as a Liverpool fan, but they are toast, for a decade anyways. Their best chance for the top of any league is at the top of whatever's left of the EPL when the inevitable trans-Europe SuperLigua is formed.

Maybe Liverpool could spend the £70m on buying Benitez out of his 4 year £20m contract. No Torres and no Benitez = Some chance of rebuilding.
