If grilled until the cheese is almost melting off the toast then it makes no difference whether it's sliced or grated. Therefore sliced is the preferred method as it's quicker.

Love a bit of Worcestershire Sauce on top too.

In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

Don't care, so long as you call it toasted cheese not grilled cheese

Sliced for adults, grated for the children. Don't forget the Worcester sauce and a little ground black pepper. On rye or sourdough not cheap white sliced that's so gross. No pun intended.

Grated? I'm not the fudging Queen.

Sliced every time. I'm lazy and I like it.

By 'sliced' I assume you meant cheese supplied that way, in plastic wrapping.
:eek: No. A block of cheddar, and a knife = sliced cheese for cheese on toast.

So then. How many of you have had some cheese on toast since reading this?

Grated, obviously.

If you are getting gaps then you're not putting enough cheese on. If grating cheese is too much faff then you don't deserve cheese on toast.

Douse VERY liberally with Worcester and Tobasco before grilling.

Absolutely. Pre-sliced cheese ??? :nono::nono::nono::nono:
I can understand it for a bit of cheese thrown onto a burger (understand, not tolerate), but as the main ingredient? It doesn't bear thinking about.

Gaps are good though - they allow for nicely burned toasty bits!

Sliced cheese, because you can spread Marmite on it before toasting.
