The solution is for turnstiles to produce a different tone when a concession ticket is scanned, which would alert a steward.

That would pretty be much the end of it.

As you can legitimately upgrade your season ticket from say junior to adult, there shouldn’t be a problem.

You would only need ID if you were trying to get in with a concession ticket.

Basically this. Reading between the lines of the statement the club seem to be giving a warning that they know a few people persistently are using cheaper tickets to get entry and are trying to stamp it out now. They obviously aren't going to check the ID or every fan passing through the turnstiles and instead will be targeting a few individuals they know, or suspect, are trying to scam the system.

The turnstiles have lights that show which category of ticket has been scanned which is why there is always a steward stood just inside the gates checking to make sure an adult isn't coming in with a kid's ticket.

Yes, I've noticed an amber light comes on as well as the green when I scan my concession ticket. Of course, I look so much younger than my age, I expect to be asked for proof.

At the end of the day is it worth being caught out for a few pounds

I’ve seen someone in a supermarket put six apples in a bag and then tell the self-service till they had three, typing in that figure while the apples rested on the scales. The till rejected this so they typed in four. It rejected this so they put in five and the machine accepted it.

They saved 40p and looked like a total lowlife to those looking on, but for some the urge to steal and connive is strong. Cheating on your own club seems like a particularly scummy thing to do, but that wouldn’t stop some people. I can’t fathom it at all.

Remember, poppy badges were stolen from the club shop. :annoyed:

I'm taking the Mrs today, using my son's (adult) ticket. If she gets refused access she's going to be mighty pissed off having to wait outside for 3 hours.

ID

Leaving the house tomorrow to go to the match.

Season ticket ✅
Door key ✅
Phone ✅
Bank card ✅ ( cash nearly a thing of the past at the Amex )
Passport ✅

Take a photo of your passport ID page on your phone. Simple. Often useful on lots of other occasions too particularly abroad if you don't want to carry your passport around.

Thought they were using this type of technology to do this. So just going to review manually.....weird and more work for stewards who should be focussing on bottle tops.

I'm taking my 88 year old neighbour on my son's (adult) ticket, so essentially downgrading to a concession. I'll email Mr Barber and ask for a partial refund.

While you're at it, given the Club are operating on a basis of transparency and fairness, ask if I can also have a partial refund on the x2 adult priced tickets (£46 each) I bought for my 8 and 10 year old via the Ticket Exchange for the Norwich game as concessions aren't offered on the Exchange.

This is going well. Since I had to set up a separate account for my son with its own email address (which he doesn't use) they sent the upgraded ticket to that and not to me, which they always used to. Half an hour of arsing around that I really didn't need this morning.

They should really bring retina scans at the Amex.

A bus pass will have his photo on it.

I'm of the same age, you cannot get a bus pass until you reach state pension age (unless you reside in jockland , taffland or live in London) all others have to wait, in my case 65 in July, so due my state pension next May ?

A bus pass isn't accepted as identification (except on a bus). Not having a passport, and until recently only a paper (non-picture) driving licence I have found this out to my cost in the past!
