Stupid link. It's not just to Katowice. Scroll down and there's loads of places.

Taunton is particularly nice at this time of year (and all others really).Plus if you can ditch the bird there's some seriously good cider to be had.

Aer Lingus seem to have launched Gatwick as a bit of a hub recently, and are doing tickets to various European destinations- Munich springs to mind as one- for only the cost of taxes, so about £25 each way.

Better than flying Ryanair, I'd suggest, it's always a bonus when the destination airport is actually within 100 miles of the city you thought you were flying to.

I'd vote Berlin out of what's been mentioned. Fantastic place and very cheap for the excellent hotels you can get. I paid £40 a night for a 4 star hotel right in the centre which was lovely. Think I booked lastminute though.

Just as a follow up to Edna's point, 5 nsc'ers and myself are going to Munich with Aer Lingus this weekend for the bargain price of £28 return. No idea what Munich's like, but for that price you can't argue.

Berlin was out voted by the Huts for Barcelona in October for 5 days.

On a train...
Haven't read all of this thread, but Berlin is a lovely city, and quite cheap too, even for 5* hotels. Expedia is usually the best value.

Ljubljana in Slovenia is a beautiful city and if you go for more than a couple of days then take a day trip to the truly stunning Lake Bled about 50km north of the city.

Yes well done dougdeep, SUPERB thinking. Why didn't I think of that?

But OH LOOK it's just mountains of sponsored links and ads which aren't always easy to sift through.

I was kind of hoping somebody on here might have some helpful recommendations, perhaps with personal experience to back them up...

I'm not a complete f***ing SPAZ, I can work the internet, but I always prefer to hear other people's ideas before trusting my moolah with some random website I've never heard of.

So EXCUSE ME for asking the advice of others you miserly old cock

well said!!

i would say anywhere out of the euro zone! my mate is going to istambul for 4 days.......i always fancied it there, even if full of tashed up turks...good luck:bigwave:
