Wait till Guiness dave gets to hear about this....
Strangely enough that was my first thought!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed, and he's a history student. He either knew what he was doing or this is another indictment on the failure of our education system to teach its people.
Oh no someone climbed on the cenotaph, it's the end of civilisation as we know it.
In a way, yes it is.
I like the way some people whip themselves up into fits of self-righteous nationalistic fury. Having worked in the Balkans during the exciting time that was the break up of Yugoslavia I take these natioalist symbols a little less seriously.
Oh get a grip man
the seeds of our own destruction have very firmly taken root.
If such important symbols of our lives, country and culture mean nothing to our young, then the seeds of our own destruction have very firmly taken root.
Fetishising the celebration of our glorious war heroes is intrinsically nationalistic. I''ve had to sit and listen to crass lectures from Serbs and Croats and Albanians who were trying to justify ethnic cleansing, and you know what a lot of their arguments involve the glorious defenders of the nation whose memories must be protected by driving women children and the elderly from their homes with a healthy dose of rape and murder, so you know I have a low tolerence level on these kind of things. What is nationalistic about remembering the dead?
We're all dooomed!!
Oh come on, it's not like there's anyone in there.

Lighten up, it's nearly xmas
Absolutely. Remembering the people from all walks of life who gave their lives for our freedom is exactly like Balkan nationalism.
Really, the comparisons are completely relevant and sensible.
People place waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much emphasis in symbolism. Yeah, climbing on an important monument isn't a great idea but I'm pretty sure these people weren't saying "f*** the war veterens". As for shitting on someones grave, I really don't see how that would affect anything.
