as 10cc say, not in hove
celebrity restaurants are almost universally shite.

ramsey was good at aubergine, alistair little's place was ok.

le caprice, claridges, ivy etc etc are all fantastically overpriced and the food is average.

i'd also like to personally shove heston blumental's bird's nest ice-cream up his arse. pretentious crap.

good food is best eaten at home, with friends.

The Ivy's still thee celeb hangout (although not best food)

As others have mentioned Le Caprice is worth a pop, as is Embassy nr Bond Street or Wellington in Knightsbridge which does a wonderful errr Beef Wellington!

I was going to Say IVY for the celebs and ordinary punters.

Old Jamie has two restaurants in Hackney, where he has trainees from the local area. Reasonably priced for what you get but obviously service depends on your trainee.

I have to say I went to a Nouveau Cuisine restaurant once. After spending billions on a three course meal. I left hungry went next door and got a large bag of chips with Onion vinegar. Wicked

got confirmation from the Embassy as well

so choice is

RHodes 24
or
The Embassy in Mayfair

anyone been to both

Price not an issue, just want a spot on meal for my Mrs b'day ...one we'll remember

Embassy is good if you want to get on it afterwards. 24 is much better for food and obviously the views. What sort of occasion is it?

GF birthday , gonna be a suprise (will get a hotel too)
We love going out for meals but never the real posh ones. Fancy a few drinks after as well . . nothing too hectic mind

Then I would say 24. Enjoy.
BTW, there is a champagne bar at the top of the tower which is a good place to go for a drink first but I think you have to book in advance. Well worth it.

BUT....you could really impress the mrs with Embassy, as you get some real A-listers in the club there occaisonaly (Tom Cruise, Kiera Knightley etc) ...other times its like a school disco in the club bit, but could be worth a shot?
