Why would anyone need to chose ONE player that's 'worth an entrance fee of £40 alone', when there are tickets available for £32 (including transport), that let you watch ALL 22 players?

You don't just watch one player though do you? You watch 11 plus subs from 1 team and the same again from another, by my maths about £1.25 each.

if the customers are happy to pay PL prices for some of the shite thats been served up this season then who am I to argue.

I am going to New York in March and the cheapest ticket I have found for an NHL game at Madison Square gardens is $76, there is then a service charge and then a delivery fee and then another $40 for what I do not know! I think it came to around $140 each! I am currently looking at other avenues!

£42 is a lot, I am ESU but if this isn't a CAT A game then nothing is.

I think we will get tickets, just need to plan to make that time available.

In terms of cost if it were just ticket prices then yes we would save money. But if we miss 4 matches over a season at say £25 via ST, and then save £30 per head on beer in town, and beer and food at the ground then we will break even or be ahead. Plus we don't get the guilt trip about not being at Falmer at 7.45 on any Tuesday night when it is lashing it down against Blackpool and not getting home until after 11pm when we have to get up for work the next day. Horses for courses,blah, blah......

As Red n Blue is one of the more normal palace fans, I assume he's saying that football overall is shocking prices - which I agree with! Interesting those prices though as they're very high for a club like Palace - just shows how fans are being priced out

I have just had an email for Micheal McIntyre at the O2. £43 to £57. Add £21 parking, dinner at £50 and £5 a pint, makes the Amex look like a bargain.

So lets compare - let's take a TV & internet package - around £50 for the whole month without premium sports and movies. Add in Netflix for another £7. So you will have around 30mb broadband ( giving you access to all the latest on demand TV - i.e. hundreds of hours ), over 200 TV channels and free phone calls FOR A WHOLE MONTH !!!!!!! Now compare that to going to this 90 minute match with a 11 year child and a 8 year old child for around £52 before extras like the odd drink and a programme.

The TV and media companies have invested far more than the £200m TB has ( although I'm very grateful to him ) in their infrastructure. They pay far more in salaries than TB does.

Does football still seem like value for money ?

A very strange and illogical comparison in my opinion.

You are comparing two entirely different products and experiences. Furthermore, one has a few tens of thousands of followers and the other many millions.

To compare Tony Bloom's investment with Sky's or BT's is bizarre in the extreme.

And what is 'value-for-money'? Who decides where that level is set? Surely we all do that as individuals and we each have a different view. What is value-for-money for one will be overpriced (or even underpriced) for another. And for those who smoke and drink, surely cigarettes and beer are some of the most overpriced and poor value-for-money commodities we can buy. How much to people whinge about those?

I pay for things - like football and Sky TV - that I think are overpriced but I do so because I want what they give me. And there are so many things about being at a live match that you simply can't put a monetary value on.

If I thought ticket prices should be based on the standard of football then, after 57 years, the Albion should be PAYING ME to attend now!

Being able to afford it is another matter and whilst some have said that they believe £20 or £25 for a match ticket would be appropriate, there are many fans for whom £10 would be too much.
