After three years at the Amex as STH's we CHOSE not to renew this season, negating the need to turn up to wet, windy, winter night games against two bob opposition.

So we rightly expect to be well behind current STH's and priority members etc when tickets go on sale for premium matches like this one. Perhaps more pertinent is the fact that we would expect to be charged top dollar for top opposition, so no gripes here about ticket prices.

But there are gripes. We have been to all but 2 home games this season, but there is no loyalty point scheme any longer, hmmmmm. STH's and priority/young seagulls will get 10 days to secure their seat, whereas we will get just 24 hours to get our tickets before the system is once again opened up to STH's to possibly buy tickets for their plastic Arsenal mates. We could wait and allow friends with ST's to get tickets for us but risk them selling out the previous day.

I know, pays yer money and takes yer choice, but 24 hours does seem very short when compared to 10 days.

It really sounds like you deserve a ticket chap (although you won't be winning any business awards, as you would have paid lots more for match by match tickets if you went through the lib every game & would've been better off getting a season ticket?! But moaning cos you 'only' have 24 hrs to secure your tickets? Chill! It takes 5 mins & you're organised enough to know exactly when to get them... You'll get tickets 100% matey :)

No, the point is we play Arsenal or the equivalent once in a blue moon, the point is the clubs match by match prices are too high. £42 to watch us V Reading on Boxing day, is that worthy of a moan?

Ok, that point I will concede but as per the below there are cheaper alternative seats available AND if you were a dad with two kids you could get in with travel for all four of you for £60 which is bloody good value.

Except people dont have to pay £42, tickets are available at £32......which nonetheless is still expensive - but it isnt £42.

So Huddersfield on Boxing day would have been Cat A too? I doubt it.
I heard the police decide the Categories and I find that daft.

Difference between Reading and Huddersfield ? You tell me

Other than Reading being boxing day, I can't think why they'd be Cat A.

Some people should think a little harder before reacting to fellow supporters who may struggle for whatever reason to stump up the best part of £40 to watch a game of football. I personally think adult tickets should be £25 for this fixture and no more, many of us have just had our DD taken for ST's on this notorious tight month think the club are taking the piss on this one.

Do cinemas or theatres reduce their prices in January because its a notoriously tight month ? I'd love to go skiing in the Alps this month, but sadly Thomson won't slash their prices to my budget. So I can't go.

Everyone has a choice, you don't HAVE to buy a ticket. I appreciate not everyone will be in a position to stump up for this extra game, but then not everyone can afford a season ticket either. We've got a plum tie. If we were drawn at home to Preston then I'm sure the prices would be reduced accordingly, but this is Arsenal, the demand will be very high, so its simple economics that the club will revert (but not exceed) their pre-determined Cat A prices for this. And it WILL sell out.

Those who do pay for a season ticket I think deserved a little loyalty here, yes it well sell out to the day trippers and Barber will enjoy the fleecing.

People moaning seems even more incredible now.

That'll be an annual price rise of ONE POUND.

To watch 2 considerably better teams*.
Play at an infinitely better stadium.
With your travel expenses paid.

*Before anyone picks me up on that, we had Mike Trusson playing up front that day, 'nuff said.

Seems a reasonable price for the biggest team to visit the Amex this season.

Anyone moaning about our pricing needs to grow a pair and man up or SAVE up.

I have no issue with the club milking the golden teat for this one. We are spoiled rotten with season ticket prices including travel etc.

The vast majority complaining need to get a grip. Go and watch Ipswich and pay £45. Then you can moan.
some people don't have to save up , they just don't want to feel fleeced:rolleyes:

That really is a knoxxish comment. 'Barber will enjoy the fleecing', that is part of his remit you numptie, to maximise match day income. Perhaps the club should have an entirely flexible approach to pricing in your opinion, perhaps make it up as they go along? What part of Cat A criteria do Arsenal not meet in your eyes?

As for the day tripper barb, I've been going since the 70's, does that make me more or less of a fan than you? I've also been going to the supermarket since then too, they don't cut their prices at Xmas for me either!

Plod are in charge of categorisation of matches on security grounds, the pricing categorisation is set by the club and is an entirely SEPERATE issue.

Not when Ipswich charge more and do not include travel in the ticket price.

I think we will get tickets, just need to plan to make that time available.

In terms of cost if it were just ticket prices then yes we would save money. But if we miss 4 matches over a season at say £25 via ST, and then save £30 per head on beer in town, and beer and food at the ground then we will break even or be ahead. Plus we don't get the guilt trip about not being at Falmer at 7.45 on any Tuesday night when it is lashing it down against Blackpool and not getting home until after 11pm when we have to get up for work the next day. Horses for courses, blah, blah......

How much more would this ticket cost, compared to a normal game? Travel and other match day expenses the same.

Three weeks to go , surely you can offset that price by having a few beers less etc rather than announcing on here like your making a stand for the common man, that football is too expensive and you won't be furnishing the club with your presence?

As you compare the club to a supermarket then you must see yourself as a customer, do me a favour and name one player in the current Albion squad thats worth an entrance fee of £40 alone, if the customers are happy to pay PL prices for some of the shite thats been served up this season then who am I to argue.

Give it a rest mate. We all know football in this country is expensive. Everyone knew it was going to be FULL priced yet you still whinge about it for the sake of it. It hardly came as a shock did it? I will bite the bullet and pay top dollar for it because it's a one off game against a top side. These fixtures don't round often. It's your choice if you go or not but stop crying about prices. It was expected.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot you were the person who could deem what people can post. Try reading my first post and, if you read it really slowly and with your finger under the words, you'll spot that I agreed it was expected and not a surprise. That doesn't change the fact that it is expensive ( and over priced ) as is most of football nowadays. Given this is a thread about prices it seems a reasonable thread to post opinions on that topic on.

Now if you're daft enough to pay that sort of money go ahead, it's your choice, but while enough fans are prepared to pay ridiculous prices the clubs will keep rubbing their hands with glee and keep pushing prices ever up.

Of course the other option is watching the biggest game of the season down the pub.

On a completely separate issue, does anyone leave home for the pub with less than £20-£30 in their pocket? :dunce:
