It’s hard to disagree with Farage here, however I can’t believe he is an outlier in his condemnation about how the EU’s dealing with this unfolding crisis.

I’m surprised the media were unable to reflect this wider condemnation within the EU itself as otherwise they are creating a narrative that it is anti EU Farage and UKIP that is vigorously opposing an otherwise moribund EU on a serious human rights issue.

Worse still, yesterday on BBC news the item on Catalonia was preceded by an item about how the EU’s Parliament had voted in agreement with Barnier and Juncker to continue to suppress negotiations with the U.K. on post Brexit trade. This included an interview from a German MEP suggesting May sack Johnson.

It was a perfect example of the hypocrisy of the EU, in Catalonia they are mute as the widespread beating of peaceful EU citizens by a member’s states paramilitary police is supposedly an internal matter for Spain, yet at the same time they are quite willing to foment for the dismissal of a member state’s Foreign minister because they dislike his more robust view on Brexit.

The die hard bigoted remainers will be unmoved but there will be plenty of reasonable minded remainers who will see the duplicitous nature of the EU.

Incidentally, Juncker won't be a very happy man this morning as tax deals with Amazon made whilst he was prime minister of Luxembourg, are being investigated as illegal. Doesn't that place him in the same set of elite financiers?

Could it be that EU membership in practise encourages secessionists to ignore the member state as increasingly irrelevant? Obviously the EU does not want a breakdown of member states (for now at least), but if Catalonia perceive Spain as less relevant/useful to them than the EU (and for that you could read Scotland and the UK) then you can start to see a pattern.

This kind of statement indicates just how little political intelligence some people have about politics and more specifically those that choose to vote against established parliaments for political reasons.

Farage and the other UKIP MEPs should be doing whatever is lawfully permitted to disrupt and confound the working of the EU. In doing so they are acting in accordance with the wishes of the cohort of constituents that voted for them. In the last EU election UKIP returned the most MEPs.

If they had any sense they should attend as often as is needed to secure the maximum in benefits/payments from the EU so that they use that money to campaign against the EU.

People like you never moan about Sinn Fein MPs not attending Parliament and still taking money or the SNP MPs meddling in non Scottish affairs and yet the dynamics are the same.

Have Sinn Fein ever lost support from their supporters by MPs not attending Parliament. This is a political party that nominated Bobby Sands to be an MP in Fermanagh. You know where he was at the time?
