I went to legoland last Sunday - stupid stupid idea.
Decided to get a second mortgage and get food. The queue was 40 minutes. when I almost got to the front the woman then agonised over the options and asked many many questions before compiling her order.
The entire menu consisted of Chicken burgers, chicken strips, chicken wraps and vegi fingers and kids versions of all the same. It wasnt complicated, you couldnt deviate and you could just ask for the food by numbers. I almost had a breakdown.

And the outside bars? Really fancied a pint outside at the Southampton match but the bars only take cash!

This is discriminatory against us older fans. I am an old fart who will only use cash at the stadium. Still my £20 or so will not make much difference and my attendance expectancy is less than someone younger so why should I expect the club to care about me. I hate the way we are heading.

What prevents you from having/using a contactless card or mobile phone payment? Something tangible or merely your own stubbornness?

I hardly ever have cash on me and the AMEX is one of those places where I need to remember to have £5.50 for two Goldstone Gambles and a programme, food and drink is contackless/phone enabled already.
The other week I went down to the Duke of York's and their systems were down, which required them to take cash, issue paper tickets (old retro ones found from somewhere) and take your membership card number to update your records and offer discounts on the food and drink. This required people to troop over the road to get cash from the ATM's as well.
Anyone know what the Plan B is for the AMEX if the systems fail.

Happy with this, especially as the programme booths are included. I've always given my son a £10 note at the game to get a programme and whatever food and drink he wants and this has worked with the bar at The Swan being cash only and programmes also taking cash. Now I'll just have to remember to pre-load his Go Henry card before we leave instead and get his soft drink for him if we meet anyone at the Swan.
I almost never carry cash these days and pay for a lot of things with my phone via Apple pay. If an old fart like me can manage it and my 13 year old has a card he can use at the ground it can't be that hard.
It is a bold claim from the club that this will reduce waiting time though as, in my experience, this has been almost exclusively down to the uselessness of Sodexo staff, particularly at the start of the season.

I try to pay by card if possible, the delay is seldom in the payment part, it’s almost always attributed to people not having a scooby in how to pour drinks and serve food.
For example, I’ve been second in the queue for the (already card only) Harveys stand in the north concourse and still waited while the hapless guy tried to pour a pint....it’s like he is trying to disarm a bomb or summat
Can anyone remember the card payment system failing, at the AMEX?
Not saying it won't, but it must be a pretty robust system to deal with a bazillion transactions in the space of 4 or 5 hours.

I'm the opposite and genuinely cannot understand this view point. Why will you only use cash? How is that easier than carrying one card that you simply tap to pay for stuff? It takes seconds.
Does anybody actually get paid in cash anymore? Because if you don't whats the point in withdrawing it just to pay it to somebody else when you don't have to?
Pre-pay cards for kids are a great idea but......Go Henry? What sort of branding is that?

Probably the major part of the decision. No cash = no secure storage for same, no security costs to transport, reduced banking costs for not paying in cash/carrying floats etc.

That will be difficult as I expect cash to be added to the list of banned items, given the dangers that coins and notes pose just like flasks and bottles.

why not have the same as when we first moved into amex where you could load your season tickets with money in club shop or on line
