Not sure most people are paying by card, still see loads paying in cash. There are multiple of issues.........
-slow/untrained staff (do they actually work for the club or Sodexo ?)
-lack of pints ready-poured
-people paying by cash and server having no clue how to deal with change
-people paying by card but using their pin instead of contactless
-people arriving at the till without knowing what they want
-people arriving at the till without the means to pay ready
etc
It'll never be any different, but the more that use contactless the better it'll be IMO
The trouble is, you're just never going to get experienced bar staff who are only needed for a few hours once a fortnight. Its always basically going to be kids/students earning a bit of pocket money for themselves. The nature of the work means it'll always be a high turnover, so loads of "training on the job".
Its been like it from day 1 at the Amex, can't see it ever significantly improving tbh.
Whatever happened to personal choice? The attack on cash is part of moves to control the behavior of the population. It controls personal choice on spending, it monitors behavior and movement "is that how much you spend on alcohol sir?" Your life insurance premium has just increased 50%
Thin end of the wedge, next they'll be tapping into your doorbell video to see who's called at your house....

I'm still not sure why this speeds things up. Is it really much quicker to key in a PIN than hand over some dosh? People make mistakes when they tap in a key in and that will slow things down. And what if the connection's a bit slow?
If your bank provides any details to your insurance company suggest you get a lawyer on to them.
Why leave it at coins? What about bunches of keys, even (horror of horrors) cigarette lighters. There could be no end to this...

Not to stigmatise you specifically but is your desire to not use it at football so your other half doesn’t see your spending patterns?
I think this category is under accounted for in the club’s decision making. I know a large number of guys who will be economical with the truth at home about how many beers etc they’ve had and now it will be there to see across all the joint account statements!
Get a new card which does do contactless...?
Then again, if you rarely use the bars it's not a problem, for you or others.
Yep,soon there will be no cash and they can track everything you spend money on plus it'll stop cash in hand!Whatever happened to personal choice? Which you can still do, just use card with C&P.Not happy with this move. I don't like the insecurity of contactless so only have chip and pin.
Thank you. That's really usefulYou can (although to be fair I think most start at age 8) - prepaid contactless visa/mastercards now readily available - osper, nimble etc. Great for teaching kids how to manage money too.
Good explanation here

A steward actually asked me at the Southampton game why I had a bunch of keys in my pocket...
