No it won't.

Most clubs don't get sucked into an insane bidding war for inexperienced defensive midfielders.
Why would Liverpool bid for him? They already have a teenage DM in Bajčetić: why would they need another one?

What they need is DM that can fill a first team slot now. I'm surprised they're not going in hard for Palhinha; I know they've sniffed around but haven't made a firm offer. They obviously have the readies, as the Caicedo bid demonstrated

Is been a joke for a while that clubs should just sign the guys brighton are looking at. Rather hope its not actually coming true now.
All clubs will be aware of your Baleba's and Barco's. The real incentive for teams to move if we do is that they now know if we get those players and they want them after we've developed them they're going to cost £££. So when they're under 20 million it's a no brainer to get in first.

Which regretfully means the agent has to give up their cut from a large transfer and their big payday.

Lol.

Potentially, but it will depend on the club.

However, some teams, such as Man Utd, have said publicly in the past that their preference is to wait and pay more for more PL ready and tested players rather then spend time nurturing them when they cant guarantee game time.

For example, if Chelsea had bought Cucu earlier they would have had to spend time training him into their system and it may have been a £15m mistake (instead of a £63m one).

A major money club isn't going to to sign a player just because Brighton want to.

Okay, Chelsea maybe

Not many clubs are experienced in dealing with multi ownership like Brighton. Man Utd backed away from Caicedo two years ago because of it.

I am a bit concerned however, that our backroom strategists are not as resilient and vigorous as they may have been before the start of our Chelsea and Newcastle exodus.

I doubt Bloom & Barber think the same.

Clubs have often signed our targets in the past. Chelsea signed Fofana - reportedly an Albion target - in January. He made 3 appearances and they've now packed him off to Union Berlin on loan. (perhaps he'll come good ) . A year ago they poached Zak Sturge from our academy. He's yet to get anywhere near the Chelsea first team - perhaps he'd be an Albion squad player by now ? . Would Caicedo have made as much progress with Man Utd (who were after him when we signed him) .

Its also how you develop them/work with them, coach them and your pathway to the first team

True. Caicedo started to shine when Potter left.

They can sort the right ingredients but if they don’t know how to cook it, that strategy will not work.

Throwing vast amounts of money at very young players is not always going to be good for their long term development. Chelsea have a horrific record of developing their youth. They normally turn out the likes of Hudson-Odoi or Loftus-Cheeks; over hyped double barrelled disappointments who have been payed WAY too much as youngsters and are set for life, no matter what happens with the rest of their football career.

Players like KDB, Salah and Lukuka show that the sooner you get out of that toxic club, the more likely you are to develop to your potential.

I'm still gutted about fofana. Looks ana amazing talent and we had pretty much sealed the deal until Chelsea poached him. He will be definitely be a big player in the next few years.
