Not if rumoured interest in BV from Bayern is true. Rushworth would just be the next train at the platform if they offered £50m for BV and further vindication of the ‘project’ and its merits.

He was POTS, or very close to it, for a pretty decent Championship team, on the fringe of an England call-up (apparently), at the top of his game and looking for a new loan in the PL, or top of the Championship at worst.

The Hull loan has been an unmitigated disaster and has set his career back no end. He won't be a kid who isn't first choice for a mid table division 2 side come January 1st, of that you can be absolutely certain! And Hull might not get another loanee from Brighton for a while either!

It's a bit early to be calling it an unmitigated disaster and that it's set his career back massively. We are 9 games into the Championship season. He missed the first 3 games as he was here covering for the injury to Bart. He didn't sign in time to play against Leeds and then missed the Sheff United game injured. So he's only actually been available for selection for 4 games.

It's not the greatest of starts for Carl but when a player makes a loan move very late in the window it can be difficult to establish yourself as the manager may already have ideas on who he wants to play etc and it's up to the loanee to prove themselves in training. Obviously Hull are not performing and they may well decide to change things up and give Carl a shot. He could still play 30+ games this season. If he's still not getting game time in a couple of months and a recall is looking likely in January then yes it can be called a poor move but at the moment there is still plenty of time for it to be turned around.

Also this lack of game time will be telling the club a lot about Carl's attitude. Is he buckling down and training hard still, is he positive when checking in with Gordon Greer/Sam Baldock etc who look after the loan players or is he moaning about everything. Sometimes a bit of adversity early in a players career can help them massively. If everything constantly goes swimmingly, you've got no idea how they are going to react when things start going wrong.

I’d certainly agree that I expected a better loan, a top flight overseas one seemed to be the next logical step.

However Hull did only finish 3 points outside the play offs so it did represent a slight step up compared to where Swansea had finished. However their batshit mental owner deciding to change manager and bring in several new signings looks to have undone all the good work our Liam put in.

I think the termination of the loan was guaranteed in January, but it absolutely should happen now. Bring him home, get him out of Hull and never loan them a player again. They've wasted our time and blocked a top talent from getting a chance - it was totally the wrong loan move given they'd already signed two new goalkeepers this summer. Whoever sanctioned it needs to review what they were thinking in letting him go there and learn the lesson from it. It was an obvious mistake at the time and presumably an unforced error because other clubs must have been interested. Personally, I think he should stay here as cover for the rest of the season but a whole season of only playing a game or two (and possibly some PL2 matches) might not be wise either.

Think that Connolly observation is wrong personally. Liam Rosenoir took him there after having him when he was involved in the youth set up. At the time it certainly looked like what he needed. He also got in amongst the goals again and no doubt was one of the factors that lead him to be being picked up by Sunderland. Connolly was second top scorer and it only stopped when Angus Gunn injured him

No, we've become very good - and very professional - at loan placements, and naturally aren't happy when loans don't work out.
