It has suddenly dawned that our next but one league away game is a spiffing trip to that oh so friendly place that is Ninian Park. Now Sheffield United is going to be a tough one, but Cardiff must surely now count as a bit of a six pointer (they always are, Brighton v Cardiff games, for some reason), so with all this new found support that is going to Spurs next week, any of you coming for this far more important league game in Wales?

Jibes aside, are people planning to go. After the last visit there, I vowed never to return as round the ground is like going back in time and the police do very little to protect you. However, it is reasonably easy and cheap to get the train along the coast and then up via Salisbury. Many of the pubs in the city centre and good and afterwards there is the chance to stop off in Bath and drink in more decent boozers. Also our resident Cardiff fan, when not bickering is claiming that things are not as bad at Ninian Park this season.

So will we have more than the 300 that went there last time?

Always say I'll never go back but will be there again.

Have also heard that things have improved. I'm sure The Laughing Bluebird will be along shortly to pour scorn on any and all Cardiff horror stories...

Can normally only do one away game a month, due to the g/f's work and childcare etc. Since I have already booked the time of for the Leeds game will be going to that. But since the Leeds game is a Tuesday, and the Cardiff is a Saturday I might be able to do both.

Well nothing bad happens there, you do not have to wait for half an hour in the ground whilst the police chase their nutters up the road after the game.

It annoys me that it has been so iffy around the ground in the past, as the city itself is one of the better days drinking.

Absolutely - first the LDV Final with Bristol City and then our own Play-off Final demonstrated what a great City Cardiff can be.

Unfortunately, like most, I've never got to experience similar for our league games where it's always been a case of getting in and getting out as quickly as possible.

Doubt I can do this one, as I'm doing an unprecedented 5 away games in a row leading up to it, so will no doubt be broke.

Definitely up for this one, if funds allow.
Never been to Ninian Park so want to go just for that.
Also got a mate at Cardiff Uni so good chance to catch up.

Anyone got any idea how much it might be?

My local game, of course I'll be there.

Either the club have been very good at media management this season or there has been little or no trouble.

Last time I was there (Cardiff v Sunderland - away end - last season) I saw no trouble at all. Where all manner of objects used to be thrown at the visitors rthere is now netting and/or boarding so that no longer seems to be an issue.

The only problems I had was after the game in the pubs when I tried to give out cards encouraging people to sign our petition. I just ran into the wrong bunch to ask!!

Some great new pubs and restaurants now open. The old Brains brewery is now called the Brewery Quarter and houses mexican, spanish and thai restaurants as well as a new pub. Nearby is an Indonesian restaurant where we will be heading. Was too drunk to appreciate their excellent food last time, would like to try it a little more sober, and as it's the Saturday closest to Valentines Day, thought I'd treat the wife. 3 points at Ninny Park and a fabulous meal out, what more could she ask for?!!

I was planning on going to this one as I've never been to Ninian Park. Reading the above, it sounds like it'll be my first and last visit.

Contrary to what Bozza and myself have said, there have been claims that is has improved, so do not take what happened to us in 2002 as gospel, just be aware in the past it has been iffy.

In 2002 it was HORRIBLE. :(

But I may be giving it another go. :)

Not sure whether to sit with Cardiff supporting mates in Home Stand or risk the away section though...

Is the tannoy announcer still on good form after the infamous "West Ham/horse and cart" announcement? Can we expect similar witticisms?

I said after the last visit that I would never go back but no doubt I will change my mind coming upto the game.

My thoughts too!

In 2002 the walk across the car park was like a scene from Deliverance...groups of snarling, ugly bastards lying in wait for Brighton fans (and that was just the women and kids:ohmy:). No kidding either. We were spat at by families, called C**ts by parents in front of 7 year old kids.

The most unpleasant experience. Not helped by a police force that didn't give a f*** for our safety and were as hostile as the Cardiff fans towards us:tosser:

Still uncertain about going having been to all recent games there the appeal is waning........
