Watching this game really highlights how much better football is without VAR. Yes, possibly some incidents would have been overturned after a 3 minute wait for the dreaded VAR screen. But it's so much better for fans to know immediately whether they have scored or not and for marginal offside and handball calls not to suck the joy out......

I was still waiting for the VAR even though it wasn't happening.

I thought this set of QFs proved completely the opposite to be honest. A stark reminder of how un?consciously biased the officials are toward the bigger teams, and how games were decided on shit decisions.

With VAR in place Simon Hooper doesn’t get to f*** over Southampton in the last minute, reprieving the ‘red men’ of a red card and a penalty that would have seen the game go to a penalty shootout.

With VAR in place THE ARSENAL’s crucial second is ruled out for a very clear offside.

Our authorities might still be shit at implementing it - but personally I’d rather we didn’t go back to the days of match defining injustices in every game.

Good points tbf - it is the speed of decisions that irks me the most about VAR - that’s what I liked about the qfs- you knew within a couple of seconds if a goal counted
