The whole thing was a complete shambles.
Joined the queue at 6:20. Got to the front at 8:00.
Ticket wasn’t printed so joined the next queue to get it printed.

Then told to go to another ticket office (different from the one on the email) to get a new ticket. 15 mins in that queue and finally got my hands on it.

Charlton saying it was Brighton’s fault, Brighton saying it was Charlton’s fault. I wonder if a higher up from either club can explain that s*** show?

Customers not fans.
Had you requested a duplicate and registered beforehand?

We had done both this morning and they still didn’t have the two tickets ready and had to queue at last window with transaction number to get the tickets printed , absolute shambles , didn’t see Barber walking around or pending his services to the ticket staff who were getting right stick off certain people

Statement on the club website

That is a very clumsily-written statement. It doesn't read as though it was written by whoever normally puts this kind of thing together, nor does it seem to have been proof-read.

My other observation is that the word "sorry" is very obviously missing from that statement.

It's possible to use the word "sorry" without admitting any kind of blame, and it helps placate those who are upset by the events that led to the statement being published in the first place.

It's possible to express sorrow that a large number of supporters were inconvenienced tonight through no fault of their own. It's also possible to be sorry that some supporters missed the start of the game tonight. It's just a nice thing to say, isn't it?

That club statement is absolute bullsheight. There were NOT 6 windows. There were 3. It did not open at 5pm, it opened at 5.22pm, I know because I was there. Don’t lie to your most loyal fans, you absolute prykes at the Club. Come on, you’re better than that. That is a shocking set of lies. Dreadful stuff from our club.

That was very much my experience. Got in the queue at 18.20 and was still miles off by 19.45. I got lucky as a mate of mine had 2 spares which I used instead - 10 game ban incoming - instead of spending anymore time in the god awful queue. Police, stewarding, organisation and respect for people in the queue were pitiful. I genuinely wonder why I bother when I read that club statement. Truth distortion with no empathy for those of us stuck there who gave it plenty of time like they asked us to.

It’s just another kick in the Bollox for the real die hard fans of this club that fought so hard . Typical Barber bullshit happy to blame everyone bar himself or the club . Needs to tread carefully there will come a time when we are relegated playing Barnsley at home on a cold Tuesday night in Jan with them begging fans to turn up . Then the club will get a big wake up call on how they are treating us.
More interested in building some bullshit tunnel vision and rip fans off for top dollar than look after fans . Would loved to of seen Barber out there tonight to see what a clusterfuck that was

How soon is now?
We were the first in the queue and the duplicates weren’t ready so we had to go to the second window. At half past 5 this was all ok, however when we went to into the ground our tickets had been revoked at 18.07. The steward said we’d have to go back to the ticket office to get them reprinted. I refused. Common sense prevailed and the Stewards mate opened the turnstile from the inside and let me and my son in.
As has been mentioned, this could so easily have been avoided. The tickets all had barcodes, so why couldn’t they have been printed at home as a first instance.
Crossing their fingers and relying on a postal service in the middle of strikes and Christmas was naïve of the club. And I’ve just read the club statement, what bollocks…..poor!

Standing in the way of control
Shame to see 'nonetheless' and 'almost one thousand' - a throwback worthy of that pre-prepared statement after the Champions League final fiasco - miss out on their hat-trick balls there, but more than made up for by 'six-windowed'.

The exact phrase 'six-windowed' has fewer than 4,000 results on a quick Google search, the most prominent of which appear to refer to works of art.

"I fear someone may have stolen a copy of your headed notepaper", as Gull's Eye once had it...

I know some don't believe it, but there are a lot of good people at the club who work hard to try and ensure things go well for Albion fans. I count Paul Barber amongst that number.

But, for the love of god, recognise that some people haven't had a great evening and empathise with that.

And that will forever be Tony Bloom, Paul Barber and by association the Albion's biggest weakness

They can never admit they have got something wrong because they are too thin skinned. No wonder they loved Graham Potter so much. Kindred souls

Whilst I don't doubt that is true, the clumsiness in the way innocuous rule breaking has been punished by a 10 game ban and now the minister of information for Iraq is pushing out those kind of statements, its easy to see why people frame the opinions they do. The club get so much right, but tonight they've got it badly wrong.

Oh, I absolutely agree that the two cases of ban/point deductions that I'm aware of are wholly inappropriate to the point of being cruel.

The best but about the queue was a Charlton steward coming to us at 7:44 and asking everyone in the queue if we had our tickets or not 😂

I was there for that! In fairness to her, I apologised for the reaction to her straight after as I felt guilty for the abuse she got. She was only trying to help (an hour too late but anyway). It's another thread for me but somewhere along the line there needs be some sort of incentive for ordinary people to do well at their job rather than thinking "f*** em" Bonuses work really well at management level, lower paid workers also need them.

The timing of her d enquiry was brilliant. Just after people were shouting and getting frustrated with a few thrown out by the police
