This whole situation makes me sad & angry at the same time. Cpt Tom would be horrified.

Not a new story they were challenged it about in their interview and I presume as the books were released before the death of Tom Moore, he possibly agreed to it.
In the prologue to the first of the three books he wrote, he said the money would be going to charity (his Foundation), only for his scumbag daughter to rob it. She refused to go on the Today programme this morning to explain why she felt she had been treated "unjustly and unfairly" by the Charity Commission.

All this came around the time they did the interview with Piers Morgan. There isn't much new in the report except the detail of her requesting a six figure salary, which at the time she denied. My question is - did her father agree to the family keeping the money from the books ?

He wasn't adverse to taking a large wedge for "appearances".

Would he? Maybe.

From my experience they absolutley typify the entitled, priviliged, pompous, I'm alright Jack mentality of the Gen X middle class, inheritance grabbing parasites.
The Young Ones University Challenge sketch sums up these wankers perfectly.

I don’t think anyone typifies an entire generation. Good and bad at all levels, classes, ages, nationalities… They’re just not very ethical individuals.

'The publisher Penguin, and promoter Carver PR, said the family gave repeated assurances that part of the advance would be used to set up and fund the foundation'

Odious, opportunistically greedy, and deceitful, yes. But let’s not lose sight of the vast amount of charitable donations that did go to the right place, thanks to the efforts of that true British Gent, Captain Sir Tom.

Yeah, but there is little in the new report that already hasn't been reported. I've just always wondered whether the old gent was quite aware and happy with the "direction of travel" prior to his death.

The worst part of all this is she didn't break the law.
Made £1.1million for her book deal writing about her father, not illegal.
Got paid more to attend a Virgin Media event than was raised for charity, not illegal.
Immoral yes 100%.
That's what I was thinking.

I'm not sure I agree with all this 'blurring the lines' business. Either she did something illegal or not. There is a difference between diverting funds to profit from something, and profiting on the back of something (monetizing one's cachet, in effect).

If she hasn't done anything illegal then it boils down to the equivalent of, for example, accepting a fee to open a charity fund run. We would normally expect a celeb to waive the fee for a charity fund raiser.

The family benefitted by more than £1 million from Tom's book deal. The question is whether Tom intended that money to go to his charity or not. Having read the piece I am none the wiser.

If she has done something illegal this needs to be made clear and not conflated with her additional personal characteristics, no matter how odious. You don't go to jail for being a shit (more's the pity, perhaps).

This indeed.
I read this morning that the family were saying not in so many words that this was a witch hunt, while later on in the article a spokesperson for the foundation said they hoped some of the cash would find its way back to the foundation.
The CEO was on the TV this morning talking about litigation. The more I have read about it, the more it confirms what I (and obviously others) had always thought, that they are an odious bunch.

Every time this thread pops up I shudder. Tom was a pawn at a time for the government, and clearly now for his family.
I got the impression that he had always been a pawn for his family - it always made me wonder if it was them persuading Tom to do this in the first place and see what they could get out of it. Attention seeking weirdos.
Shame for the old soldier and shame on them. Hopefully the charity will take them to court over this and they will end up worse off than they started.
