It doesn't need a pageful of stats to prove that Capello's done the square route of f-all with England so far. There are some fundementals that will currently ensure failure:

1. He's still playing Beckham
2. He's still playing Lampard/Gerrard together
3. He no speaka da lingo
4. He's still playing Beckham

Until those points are addressed for starters, we're going nowhere under this bloke.

Agreed on your points. I'm sure he'll figure it out sooner than the last two though.

I can NEVER fathom what England managers are trying to achieve in various friendlies, not least because what they start out trying to look at invariably gets scuppered when the likes of Taggart and Benitez start pulling out "injured" players who are usually better come the following Saturday.

So I think it's fair to say that I don't give a f*** what Capello does or doesn't do, as long as we qualify for the WC and graciously f*** it up in the quarter final as usual.

Well, let's just give the fella a chance. Not even played a competitive game yet. And his record does speak for itself.

In saying that, his last squad selection was truly worrying...

Horrifying, I'd say. I'd struggle to think of a WORSE midfield combo for England than:

Gerrard - Barry - Lampard - Beckham

Is that REALLY what we're paying this bloke £6m a year to come up with ? Nobody at the press conference understood what he was gabbling about when he was blinding us with science in attempting to justify it by saying Gerrard "was not playing on the left" - and if nobody else could understand it, then what chance have our "brain of Britain" footballers got ?

I was cautiously optimistic at Capello's appointment, as I thought his authoritarian attitude was just what we needed, AND I thought it would finally bring an end to the England manager constantly picking big names on reputation and shoe-horning them into the side any bloody where.

How wrong can ya be.

Where's angry Capello? Who is this softie we've been sent? I can't wait for someone to really tick him off.

Cappello is a winner with a capital W

I think he will come into his own now the real deal of qualifying begins, 4 points from the next 2 games and everyone will be happy and wondering what all the fuss was about.

Crodo is right. Capello is the man to lead us to more quarterfinal GLORY.

I really thought he would sort it out, he had the chance to and he has blown it.

Still picking Beckham, picking tat like Bullard, picking 2nd stringers like Bridge, picking James, still letting Gerrard run around like a headless chicken, and on and on.

I don't mind Bullard being included. At least he'll actually be keen and proud to wear the shirt. Most of the others clearly couldn't give a toss any more.

There I was thinking that we hadn't actually PLAYED any competitive games yet. Silly me.

I really was all for him when he started but think his team selection for the friendlies has been short sighted and listening to him after the last game gave me serious cause for concern.

For the record there is NOTHING wrong with picking Beckham.................... provided it is for LA Galaxy and not for the England team

I dunno.....I'm not convinced he has the quality for the MLS anymore.....what with "true legends" like Darren Huck Huck Huckerby playing there nowadays.

He had a chance to institute some real change in the set up and he hasn't done it. Can't be arsed to go into why I think that but in my eyes he has blown his chance.

I 100% agree that he should've used the friendlies more effectively to blood youngsters/sort out the big name players/instill a new working ethos etc, but to suggest he has BLOWN IT 2 years before we even get to the finals is a bit mental.

Look at how we have played. Let's be honest we will be lucky to make it through the group stages.

Give it some time. Like I said, can't wait for one of the big names to really rub Capello up the wrong way, it's bound to happen at some point.

I just don't understand why he's been so NICE so far.
