i cant believe he only tells them 2 hours before KO. Fair enough dont tell the press but players need more than 2 hours to prepare mentally.

But hasn't he ALWAYS announced the team 2 hours before kick off anyway?

Clutching at straws if you ask me.

in the qualifiers the team was close to picking itself so players probably had a good idea if they were in the team the day before. With so many injuries and poor form not many are obvious first choices.

why has this come up? theres been several pro footballers saying being told only few hours before the game is normal. how does it effect them being prepared?

Typical f***ing England, this man has won pretty much everything and has been managing and winning for donkeys, yet a couple of dodgy results and the English, who have won f*** all for 44 years think they know better. Total joke.

Of course it'll make a difference.

Everyone will have longer to make up more excuses and jokes for when we lose.

I do not like the reply 'this', so I shall try and add something. The squad seem far too precious. Honestly, do we need to know the line up to make us play decent football? They are dull, gutless and wasters, propped up by far superior players from out side of England.

If we get through to the knock out stages they will say that telling the players made the difference, but the truth is it probably makes little or no difference at all.
Just an excuse for a bunch of players who thought they could breeze through the group stages without really having to play.

Agree completely.

Surely all the players should be prepared mentally in case they are called upon.

the truth? we'll nver know the truth, where real event and comments stop and the press invention starts. if not publically announced, how will ever know if the players know 1, 3, 6 or 12 hours before the game?

In terms of getting mentally prepared, I think it makes sense.

I do think the team should be named earlier so they can get used to set pieces etc, However the players should all be ready to play as the are apparently pro's.

It seems to me the players are trying to shift the blame from them to the manager.

I don't have a problem with him telling them just 2 hours before kick off if that's the way he wants to do it.

But there should be exceptions, such as the Green/James decision. That should be done at least 48 hours before and announced.

Management, in all walks of life, needs to be consistent but there are times when it also needs to be flexible.
