Sky are saying Capello refused to talk tactics or about team selection with the players, and that the rest of the squad are furious with John Terry for his 'outburst' yesterday.

I really hope this is a cover-up as I really thought this was going to be the turning point in our tournament. I didn't want Terry to go in all guns blazing but a little interaction between Capello and the players would have been helpful, in my opinion. Unfortunately it seems Fabio is unwilling to be approached by players and allow the possibility of his authority being questioned.

in the qualifiers the team was close to picking itself so players probably had a good idea if they were in the team the day before. With so many injuries and poor form not many are obvious first choices.

This is the same team, apart from King/Carragher for Upson and James for Green than the qualifiers :wozza:

oh for f***'s sake

he's done it that way all the f***ing time and now cos the bloody press get on his back about it everyone is a f***ing expert and thinks they know better

depressing

just like the everyone knew better than Sven how to play football, even though he got us to 3 successive quaterfinals

I agree. This is just an excuse for the shit they have been serving up. It's such a crap method that it has brought Capello several trophies during his career.

Can't believe it will make any difference what so ever. All the players should be up for the game and be prepared mentally and physically playing or not. Sure set pieces will get worked on with all the players and in different situations.

Hoping he still don't tell the press until 2 hours before though they are the only ones moaning about it.

Typical f***ing England, this man has won pretty much everything and has been managing and winning for donkeys, yet a couple of dodgy results and the English, who have won f*** all for 44 years think they know better. Total joke.

Is spot on and that is why we will win f*** all.
Arrogance because we won the trophy 44 years ago.
We still cannot accept as a nation that we need to learn from other countries.
Until our kids grow up playng a more technical game that stands up under scrutiny and more importantly the high pressure that goes with competing in these tournaments then we will always fail.

Heskey might well be our best option at this tournament but he shouldn`t really get a look in if we had any really gifted forwards.

Interesting quote from David James today in the metro. he says that being told the team 2 hours before hand isn't such a bad thing. You train as if you were playing and then if you aren't starting you may feel down, have a few minutes to think about it but then you get your head together and concentrate on the game in hand. Given that the whole squad is involved and could come on early in the game it doesn't make much difference as you could be on in case of injury (a la Owen in last world cup) within 10 mins.

i think Sky are making stuff up to fill their 24hr rolling news when theres f*** all of any interest this WC.

Interesting quote from David James today in the metro. he says that being told the team 2 hours before hand isn't such a bad thing.

And Carragher said its no different to Benitez last week, and Phil Neville said both Moyes and Ferguson dont tell players the team until a couple of hours before kick off either. coaches announcing the team the evening before a game is the exception rather than the rule.

seems the media have taken offense at Capello for shutting them out. I recall he went off bollocking them a couple of weeks ago at the training ground.

Everything needs to change. The players , the system and the preparation. If this is an indication that change is happening it CAN'T be a bad thing.

At least if we are shit again it quashe's this stupid excuse about the players knowing the team late.

Change needs to come from the small things and the big things.

I'd love this:

<Fabio>: "Some of the squad wish me to announce my team for Wednesday a little earlier than normal, so this I am doing.

John Terry - dropped
Wayne Rooney - dropped
Frank Lampard - dropped.

In will come Cole, Defoe, Dawson.

Upson will play instead of Carragher.

Now, everybody, up to your rooms!"
