1970. Home to Preston NE. 0-0 draw, nearly 10 000 in the crowd. Alan Duffy missed a penalty which he shouldn't have taken in the first place.

Of primary school age and my older brother took me to a run-of-the-mill league game in Jan1976 versus Colchester. Peter Taylor was in charge.

Witnessed a 6-0 win. Even then, 16,000 turned out to see the sleeping giants of the Albion.

Within weeks I was taken to my first evening game .... a 2-0 win over Palace in front of 33,500.
Magical Goldstone under lights.

After that, hooked for life.

Barrow at home on the 27th April 1968. We drew 1-1.

My dad knew a chap that worked in the South stand and he use to let us in for free.
I can still remember walking into the stand and hearing and seeing that crowd. Blew me away. I was only 6 yrs at the time and thanks to the genius who put this site together http://www.seagullsprogrammes.co.uk/ I even managed to find a programme
from that great day.
Been a fan ever since

That's brilliant!

By the time I'd got back to Newhaven, the Argus would often be how you'd find out the results of the day

Seem to recall thumping Chester 6-0 that season too

Andy Rollings MoM after winning 6-0???

Peter Taylor after the Chester game: "We beat a bad team 6-0; it was like beating a good side 1-0."

Cheerful!

The dull part of the south coast
Nov/Dec 1965 - against Bedford Town FA Cup 2nd round at the Goldstone. The crowd was 16,000+ and the match ended in a draw, 1-1? 2-2? Anyway we lost the replay 2-1.

Stood at the front of the East terrace (south end) or Chicken Run as it was called in those days.

It was amazing that the Albion had quite good crowds during the mid/late sixties as the football on offer was very average. We always ended each season mid to lower position in the old Div.3

Bring on the 1970s, now that's when it really happened!

1987 Ipswich at home, we were already relegated from the old div 2. Only went as my then girlfriend was a Brighton fan so stood in the North Stand. Also went to the last game of that season at home to Leeds! First time seen police horses on the pitch to disperse the Leeds fans who then turned on the North Stand and threw coins at us! Went to every home game the following promotion season, that was awesome!

Can anyone remember the goal at the goldstone when our player hid behind the keeper then sneaked in front of him and scored? I was right behind the goal in that game and want to try and find a video of the goal, probably around 94-97 can't remember the player who scored or what match it was
