Looked much more mature today. He’s always been able to do the flashy, impressive things. Needs to keep the silly mistakes away and there won’t be many better in the Premier League. Such a shame he decided to play for Spain and not England.

There was no time wasting from him at all today when most other keeps would have done and always looked to get things moving.

I noticed the ref (probably) told him to get a move on when putting the ball down for a goal kick which was a bit harsh, given how he was clearly not looking to run down the clock

We def need a better back up than Steele. Seen the difference losing Kasper has made to Leicester. Danny Ward is not in the same league. Really think we need 2 viable number 1s like Chelsea have.

Nah. A keeper even close to Sanchez’ ability would be worth 20m+ in addition to commensurate wages. That’s a lot of money to be sat on any club’s bench for an average of 37 games a season, never mind a club like us with a moneyball philosophy.

He was immaculate today. BIG saves at really important times - he ensured that Chelsea never once got anything like a foothold in this game.

I gave him some pelters last week after his role in the first Haaland goal, but I couldn't fault him today. Just excellent.

Sanchez isn't remotely close to being the keeper Bazunu is now? And won't even develop into a keeper as good as Bazunu is now?

That just makes you look ridiculous, regardless of what Bazunu might or might not develop into.

Judging from his performance against Newcastle today, Bazunu is fast developing into a Championship keeper where he’ll probably be playing next season.

Sanchez on the other hand is an outside bet to start for Spain in the World Cup finals. You can’t compare the two.

Mrs D and I both think he's great when he doesn't have to think about things...his instinctive blocking instincts are top notch, but when he has to actually think about things (e.g. penalties) he's always got a ricket in him (to quote Warren).

Lots of talk about Sanchez and penalties.

On average, goalkeepers in the PL save 12% of the penalties. Or just over 1 in 10. And since most teams concede 6-7 penalties per season, the average PL goalkeeper makes less than one 1 penalty save per season.

Why people are obsessed with whether Sanchez save 0 penalties per season or 0.6-0.7 penalties per season strikes me as quite odd. How much difference does it make?

The best way of not conceding penalties is to not give the opponent one in every game.
