But they are genuine problems, people see immigrants/asylum seekers in social housing when they themselves or their kids have been on the list for years , try seeing where you grew up transformed into a replica of lahore or karachi in the space of 25 years , try going on the millwall board where they live with the results of large scale african immigration every day and start telling them how " we're all having a great time over here " especially when you mention you live in the diverse melting pot of , er sussex, you really dont know your born nibble.
I can agree with you here. I work down here in Sussex and Luton. You could not get two different places as regards immigration. When I first started going to Luton there where quite a few English people living up the road. Over the last 8 years more and more people have moved away and replaced with people from Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.
What you have in Luton, in which we don't have down here in Sussex is large communities of people from different countries, faiths.
What I have observed is the lack of integration especially between adults, which I think in the long run is a bad thing. The kids are however learning to integrate as they all need to attend the same schools, not unless the parents decide to send them to a faith school.
Now I am of the opinion that I don't mind immigration providing we have the homes, jobs and the services to support it, but I do question this governments policy when we have so many young people on the dole, we hear about hospitals losing money and there not being enough school places.
There is nothing wrong with asking these questions. I like everyone just want to protect the system I have paid in to for 20+ years, along with my mum, my father, grandparents. Is that fair enough?
