So what gives you confidence in Brown? Where has he exercised fiscal management that has filled you with all the hope of a 5 year old on Christmas Eve?

Was it selling off our gold at rock bottom prices? Was it plunging us into the biggest debt in UK history? Was it his promise of the end to boom and bust which he reneged on? Was it that every time he and Darling make a prediction of UK output/economy growth/borrowing that they spectacularly miscalculate with wild overoptimism.

Jesus wept, you people and your blind faith in that cocksucker Brown or your blind hatred of the Tories (let me paraphrase...Tories don't care, Tories don't look after anyone but the rich, Tories rape children....) just leave me gobsmacked.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Brown has f***ed up spectacularly because he is not up to the job. It's time for him to go.

Buzzer, I feel the need to jump in here specifically because of your use of the phrase "you people"; I presume that as I've criticised Cameron/Osbourne on this thread I'm included in that group. [Apologies if I'm not, and it was actually just aimed at Gully, but the point at the end of this post still stands in general]

I am *not* one with blind faith in Brown. I do not support him, I'm not defending him (although, yes - before it came to it I did in the past, I won't deny that). I did vote Labour at the last election, but no I wouldn't at the next.

However, to suggest that Cameron/Osbourne are any better is an utter, utter joke. Announcing this piece of filth today just goes to support that. It has completely lost the Tories the right to claim that they are the ones to help the poor in this recession (No, labour aren't either after to 10p debacle - I'm not claiming they are).

We've got two utterly, utterly incompetent parties to choose from at the next election - great.

Not specifically to you and this post Buzzer, but at a lot of right-wing posters on this board, I make this point:

Just because a left-wing poster on this board despises the crap the Tories come out with, and think they are utterly useless, that does not automatically mean they do support Labour. It's possible to dislike both. Please will people understand this?

My only concern is how is this loss of 4bn in tax gonna be funded elsewhere?

Everyone offers tax cuts, but it ain't practical if you just cut everything. Or is it a case of cut taxes and spend less on public services?

If so maybe we should stay with Labour.

If they wish to reduce the amount people owe on credit cards etc why can they not force the bank into making tighter restrictions on the users and reduce the credit limit of those that only pay the minimum each month and who will never ever pay off their debt at that rate, effectively stopping any more spending on the card. Reduce the interest that a bank may charge and increase the minimum payment each month. I am sure that there must be a reason why this cannot be done and somebody more knowledgeable than me on the subject will explain why this cant be done.

Thank you, that was the point I was really trying to make, it was late when I started posting and I was tired as it had been a really long day...and, I don't remember saying that I was a dyed in the wool Brown-ite or Labour supporter, I was really trying to say that they were the best horse to back at the moment.

Labour found the money for the VAT cut... oh wait they just borrowed it so we pay back later. and didnt Brown cut 100k civil service jobs last year and now will create that many? smoke and mirrors.

tax cuts on everything isnt practical, but tax cuts in wastful areas so that we the people can judge which goods and services we wish to spend our money on is practical. the money doesnt disappear, it just stays with us to spend or save as we see fit. less on public services means spending more on private services, it all goes into the economy in the end.
