If you can get yourself to the Romans just down the road, they will be running coaches to Falmer

The 49s run from Portslade Station to East Moulsecoomb every 10 minutes. The stadium is within fairly easy walking distance of the Bolney Road terminus.

Alternatively, get any bus to the city centre and change on to one of the services going along Lewes Road - more than 30 an hour.

This shows the Brighton and Hove Buses that operate in and around Falmer (but not the football specials). Falmer is pretty well served, although it's worth mentioning that some of these services don't run to Falmer on a Saturday (e.g. 5B). There's also the Big Lemon of course. The 46 and 49, whilst not actually going to Falmer, seem to go within reasonable walking distance.

The stadium is in Studentsville, I was rather assuming there would be more buses than we could shake a stick at.

Can you walk from where the 49 stops in North Moulsecoomb, without having to venture on to the A27?

I assumed you could, but I don't have the local knowledge to confirm this. A quick look at Google Maps suggests it's possible, with the caveat that the building works at the Falmer Academy might complicate matters.

I expect this area will be a very popular drop-off / pick-up point too.

Yes. If I remember correctly you walk along the opposite side of the road to the stadium to the Sussex Uni site and then under the subway to the stadium.

The name gives it away
I'm even more confused now. I've had a look at the link for the Football Buses to the Amex as I'm interested in the Mile Oak one. It says in the blurb, 'Your match day ticket gives you free travel on all these buses'. Its definately talking about the Amex but I thought we had to buy vouchers for the season to use on the buses. Anyone know if this has changed?

There are probably uncompleted conversations that need to be concluded between the Club and the Bus Company. I'm sure that it will be free travel for holders of Travel Vouchers, not just match tickets.

You may well be right Lord B, but I thought that the travel voucher only gave you so much off, not completely 'free' travel, (yes I know its not free cause you have to buy the vouchers but you get my drift).

The arrangement with Travel Vouchers is enough to make it commercially viable for B&H Buses to permit 'free' travel (ie travel without any further payment by the passenger) on their services in the area (once reimbursement arrangements are taken into account). Whether other operators (eg Big Lemon, Stagecoach, Compass Travel) feel the same remains to be seen.
