Burnley are off to a jolly boys outing to Eastbourne!

Presumably they'll check in to a cheapo manky Eastbourne hotel and have a bus waiting to, er, bus, them straight into Brighton. A bit like the French tourists who used to take the Dieppe-Newhaven ferry route. There were always buses waiting to, er, bus them straight into Brighton.

I guarantee the Burnley fans reading that are thinking Eastbourne is on the "West End" of Brighton (Article states the Hotel is "on the West End of the resort").
Only to discover once checked in, that they're a solid 20 miles away.

Really?

No wonder fans of other clubs sometimes say that we're arrogant.

Yes really. As a veteran of many an an Argus-£1-Pre-Xmas-Foot Passenger Newhaven-Dieppe deal, I can guarantee that there were always buses laid on at Newhaven Harbour to bus the arriving French tourists directly into Brighton.

Pretty sure Burnley FC will be no different.

Don't shoot the messenger

Burnley fans arrive into Eastbourne and rush the soon to depart Coaster 12, full of OAP's ready to have a nice afternoon tea and a jam scone.

It isn't Newhaven, it's Eastbourne. I know of a naval reunion that takes place in Eastbourne every year, at a lovely hotel and the participants don't feel the need to catch the bus into Brighton each time. I go to the gala dinner on the Saturday evening.

I meant no disrespect to either Eastbourne or Newhaven. Fact remains though, that unless a visitor has any strong ties with either of these towns, then they'll be making a beeline for Brighton.

Experience of my shipmates says you're wrong. They have visited Brighton, but most times when they visit, they stay in Eastbourne and visit elsewhere. Brighton isn't to everyone's taste.

Eastbourne is very popular in the north west. It's seen as genteel and less London influenced than Brighton. It used to surprise me when I worked there but I guess they have a point.

Why? When we go away drinking as a group to games we normally end up staying close to the hotel in a decent pub or two.

Comments like you made is exactly as someone said above why people think Brighton fans can be arrogant

Really? If people from Brighton were unfortunate enough to find themselves staying in a hotel in Sunderland they would make a beeline for Newcastle. If they were staying in Bolton they would go to Manchester. It is what you do. Go to the cool interesting place. Eastbourne is nice enough, but it isn't Brighton.

Fact is we go away to to all these shit towns, we have to google decent pubs to find somewhere that will sell a decent pint. You northerners get off the train in Brighton and you can stumble in to one of ten decent pubs within 100 yards of the station. That is probably why we look down on most of the shit towns we have to visit.
