He's identified some very good players

Adam Clayton
The orient winger tearing it up at Brentford
Stephen ward
Keith andrews
Dale Stephens
Leo ulloa
Lewis grabban

Its not his fault we can't keep hold or close any of the deals !!!

Its our tight wage structure that's killing us meaning we have to go to 3rd 4th choice options

Getting tasked with finding quality talent on a shoestring can't be easy. 2M buys you sweet FA in the British market.

Manufacturing the truth, what does that mean, And I am still waiting for the list of the top talent in the UK that Burke scouted.

None of us know how football budgets are set. Maybe we spent less on sign on fees / agent fees, but more on wages, but net our spend was less than last season?

Either that or he really did think signing a bunch of league one players would be a lot better than what we let go of, and paid them more

Nice try Tommy, but if there isn't a 'face' to blame then people aren't interested.#
Jamie Ward from Derby, also in the summer.
Darren Bent
Matt Upson

I do believe he should be pushed into academy recruitment. He's brought in Walton and Ince, which both look great prospects. I'm sure if he look through his history you'll find some gems.

At the same time paying out the highest wages in the clubs history. Yer right.

Doesn't really mean that much. Probably look at any business in the land and they are probably paying more wages than they have previously! As for players, I would suspect that Ulloa was on a relatively low wage. He came from Spanish second division club where there's hardly any money, especially when you consider the economic situation in Spain at the time. Orlandi was, by all accounts, on a big whack as was probably Kuszczak but I doubt Barnes was a really high earner as he was young when he came. If he was then why did he leave!!!

I should hope so because that is what he is paid for. I dont know who was responsible for the summer debacle. But I do know Brighton spent some money and wasted it on players from Barnsley who might have struggled to get in the Brighton side of 1997. Whoever scouted the players that came in during the summer would have a hard job of convincing me and most Brighton fans that they know anything about football. The business in the summer was (with the money we spent) as bad as anything in my memory.. and trust me, I have had the misfortune to witness some truly dreadful Brighton transfer summers.

Charlie Austin, Danny Ings, Jamie Vardy, there s probably more. Lifes hard, but if you want success you have to work at it. There is a huge amount of talent out there, it just needs to be found

Most of this talent you mention doesn't exactly come along in bucket loads. There are players in lower leagues who look great at their level but can't make the step up when they get a move. Think your idea of there being a huge amount of talent, proven talent, is misplaced IMO.
You either buy proven talent, which costs a fortune or you gamble hoping to bring in players cheaply and fingers crossed it works out. There doesn't appear to be much middle ground.

Rare for a suit to get axed, it's probably either nothing or a move sideways and change of title.

Get Berk out with his database of potential players and DVDs the hethen. We want a manager who is writing all his favourite players on the back of a fag packet, with his own team building up their own collection of fag packets To take with them when they have blown the budget to get temporary success in their short stay at the club, ignoring the acedemy and development squads.

Where does the academy fit into your thinking on this subject?

Nobody is saying that. We are saying there has to be accountability for the debacle of the summer. Whoever was responsible for spending the cash in the did a very poor job. I dont know who it was and so Im not pointing fingers, but whoever it was did a shit job. Things have to change. Let the manager identify players and let the lawyers see of the deal can be done.If not then the manager identifies the next player. A manager must be fully accountable for league position as against budget. Yes he needs oversight because the contracts are worth millions but last summers disaster cannot be repeated.
