Massive competition for SKY whatever they say in public. Awash with cash and guilty in my option of taking their customers for granted.

The hassle I had getting my broken box replaced.

I'm going for Sky TV half price for 12 months (previous customer), plus BT Infinity 2 (better speeds for my area than Sky), after a terrible experience with Virgin whereby my internet was awful (although that's now been fixed - but too late for them now). Internet plus line rental (for my particular package) works out around the same per month for Sky and BT, although with BT you are tied in for 18 months, as opposed to 12 with Sky.

If you have Sky TV + BT internet you can get BT Sport for free on 1 Sky viewing box only (and only in standard definition) plus 2 additional devices in HD (computer, phone).

If you want to order BT internet and are in no rush it is best to wait until June - and then order online - as you will then get the new BT Home Hub 4 + a Sainsbury's gift card. Currently if you order online you are only able to get the Home Hub 3. However, you can order over the phone and get the Home Hub 4 now, but no Sainsbury's gift card.

I've been with BT broadband, and before that dialup, this is the first thing that has ever been offered by BT for free. If this announcement is right, that's a big IF.

I think you will find it will be on Sky. Indeed if you look at channels 413 and 414 they are there already although its just a 'coming soon' message. Lots of other TV companies use the Sky Card directly, mainly foreign and 'cough' porn channels and they handle the subscription and card activation themselves. Think its a bit steep at £12 a month when ESPN was less than £10 so I think I will probably be out unless we get promoted.

Steep? At 2 quid more? Think its fairly justified in that they have 18 first picks! ESPN rarely had a big game!

i was really enthusiastic about this, BT broadband costs are same as current ISP so looks good. except how are they getting away with claiming its free, when i have to pay £5 more for a BT TV set top box? quite annoyed now.

So BT is free for broadband customers, Sky is now PAYG with Now TV. So unless you a Sports addict where is a value in a Sky Sport subscription, and thats before all the other sub-legal streaming options.

OK, I am totally confused and would appreciate some advice.

I am currently a BT customer for line rental and broadband. My kids are getting older and using the internet quite a bit more than when I chose my 10Gb per month package so I was already considering going for Infinity. I now pay £10 a month on top due to us exceeding my current monthly allowance so Infinity will probably save me money.

Seeing this option for BT sport has made me pursue this further.

I have a sat dish on my house which I have previously tested and it works. What do I need to buy/pay to be able to watch BT Sport on my telly?

It looks like I need a sky digital box (ebay?) and an activated viewing card (sky?) - what else? What are the likely costs?

I don't have any fancy TVs so streaming via wifi is not an option at present.

If I missed any vital info. please let me know.

Thanks!

Worth a look, I'm just moving house anyway so am reviewing things like my phoneline and broadband, etc. I would be more interested in it because of the Premiership Rugby, however (unless Brighton get promoted).

They've got half the rugby matches live :rave: but don't forget Premiership Rugby TV which screens full replays free from about 3 hours after they finish. So if you can avoid your favourite teams score...

OK, maybe £5 per month is not too bad.

How does the BT TV box connect to the TV and how does the signal get to the BT TV box?

Sky have always beaten off the competition from BSB, ITV Digital and Setanta so dare say they will have something up their sleeves to kill off BT too.

A saturday night show in front of a live studio audience featuring Jamie Redknapp.

... the magic may have ended.
