Brogues look great with a plus four or a tweed trouser. Suites you sir.
Surely a 'stout' brogue would last longer but not be as comfortable as a brogue.
And I would know the answer if only I knew what a 'stout' brogue was.

Neither here nor there
I bought a pair of Loakes a few years ago for about £160. Far more than I've ever spent on shoes but I figured they would last me several years if I invested in repairs every now and then.

They look absolutely great but I just can't get on with them. They feel like clogs and haven't softened up at all. I can just about wear them for a couple of hours if I'm mainly sitting down but walking anywhere ... forget it. Just too painful.

I suspect the problem is with me rather than the shoes as I know loads of people love them.

I have a pair of Jeffrey West shoes, same shape etc (as are most of his shoes) but light brown. They’re lovely.
