Fair point about Khan, probably worded that badly, I was just disappointed by his response after the first protests last Saturday ended badly, in my opinion the police were very weak in response initially and that has caused this inevitable descent into utter chaos on the streets with people having no respect for the law.

I’ve heard a few police sergeants now say that they’ve simply had to let the vandalism and violence happen because there’s nothing they can do about it and it could incite more problems, it’s a slippery slope towards total anarchy.

Agree with the rest. Uphold the laws.

First maybe I should mention that I neither like police officers in general as they are often the worst kind of human beings (along with journalists and politicians), and I dont like police as a concept.

But if I ignore those thoughts for a minute and just think of the current situation: if they are not very very soft right now, if they make a tiny misstep, you are in deep deep trouble.

How bloody ignorant. You can't generalise like that for all Police officers. At the moment, I feel sorry for them, they get shit all of the time and their resources have been cut tremendously by our absolute **** of a Government and people still vote them in.

Do we have a problem with the softly softly approach the Police are taking at the moment. Notwithstanding the current climate with regard to BLM and a bunch of morons our for a fight against anyone yesterday, is the approach building up problems for the future.

For example, irrespective of the rights or wrongs of the statue of Colston being there in the first place, should the Police have intervened because now it seems it's open season everywhere.

Another example are the raves in Manchester last night which went on until the early hours. Clearly breaching social distancing and the number gathering, the Police seem to take the view it was better to sit back rather than stop it in it's tracks (pun intended). Had they done that there may not have been 3 stabbings, one rape and someone dying from what was believed to be drug overdose. There have been reports of street parties where the Police have turned up in London. I'm sure I read about one where they turned up at 9:30 and eventually dispersed the party at 1:30!! Well that goes down as a success.

Is it weakness at the top of the organisation or are their hands being politically tied?

Government cuts. They simply don't have the numbers to properly Police anymore. Nothing more to it. Let's hope those 30k new officers are bought in sharpish. The Police aren't perfect, particularly when I was at Palace away last year, clearly they wanted trouble and the Middle Aged Met Officers were right dicks, but, mostly, the Police are there to serve and protect.

What a cretinous post. Met them all have you? or do you specialise in generalistic bol lox’s?

bet you soon be in favour of them if you were in dire need, or would you, when laying face down in some gutter say, oh please go away mr police person, leave me here alone as I don’t really agree with you as you are all nasty people. Pratt.

All a bit quick to ban the foreigner just because he doesn’t like OB ???

Yep. I can see why some would be offended by his views but not sure he needed banning (there are problems in the police force, they are well documented, the police force is a relatively new concept, early nineteenth century etc). Before anyone jumps on me I’m not saying I agree with him, rather I don’t think his views were ban worthy. But hey, the mods also have a tough job

Im all for open debate and differing opinions but he is a weapon, verging on a troll.

I disagree. He often has interesting and alternative views. Sometimes he thinks out-of-the-box, sometimes I think he’s off-his-box. This thread isn’t one of his better moments but he’s never struck me as a troll.

The police in this country police by consent and currently whatever they do they are criticised. If they go in heavy handed they are criticised and if they take a softly softly approach they are criticised. Whether or not you like the police, without them there will be mob rule.

Lets not forget they killed an innocent newspaper vendor during a protest, haven’t seen any reports of a policeman being killed during the recent protests.

Wow, not sure you have the right to own that comment swing as you are a foreigner, however the last interaction I had on here regarding the Police was with LlcoolJ and iirc he has an interesting opinion of the girls and boys in blue...

Why are you bringing me into a thread on which I have made no comment whatsoever. You're bordering on being reported as a stalker you weird dimwit.

Don’t engage with him, mate. He’s unhinged and once you start a dialogue he’ll stick to you like glue across multiple threads. Trust me, I was his last target. He really is best ignored.

I can handle him following me around making a fool of himself and getting destroyed EVERY time. It's shooting fish in a barrel after all. I also get that after being schooled, he's hurting and is desperately trying to fight back, despite being ill equipped to fight his way out of a wet paper bag, intellectually speaking.......

But bringing me into something which I've not even commented on is out of order.

Is it meant to be one for one then ? For each person the police kill then one police officer needs killing ? The officer that killed Ian Tomlinson should clearly have been charged but one bad apple doesn't make the force.

Quite agree. Threads I’ve never commented on are littered with his posts about me and how awful I am. He’s a twerp.
