Still think the left footed/left side playing Clarke is the more likely one to bring in.

I’d agree with that. Like O’Hora, it’ll be goodbye to Østigård unfortunately; both will probably end up at a minimum of Championship level.

Then we’re on to Kazukolovas, Van Hecke, Dendonker & Roberts for the next chance of a CB 1st team promotion in perhaps 2022 or beyond.

My mate is a derby fan and they think our centre back is absolutely brilliant! Seemly the vibes around is we would want £10m for him? Seems a bit steep, but they haven’t a penny so hoping for another years loan from us.

I’ve a sneaking suspicion about Ostigaard
All depends on our summer dealings outbound though
IF we don’t lose any of the 1st team defenders
Then I think his ambition will lead to his departure

Østigård is only 21 and has had two good loans, White was playing league 1 when he was 21. If White is sold this summer then you would think Østigård and Clarke would both be given the chance with the first team, if not then a contract extension and a loan to a club with higher expectations than Coventry would make sense, White is unlikely to be at Albion forever...

I can see Clarke returning to us to boost our left-sided/left footed defence options.

Just a hunch, but I don’t think Clarke will ever play for us.
I’m a little but gutted about this as he is an excellent, young player - at least as good as Webster, when Webster first signed.
Clarke will play regularly in the Premier League for someone, mark my words.

I’d be amazed if White is sold this summer. He’s had a so-so season, and wouldn’t attract anything like the kind of figures that are dreamed up on here. He will look better for the experience next season and will eventually leave for big bucks.
Same goes for Lamptey - big clubs won’t be queueing up , until they have seen his dodgy hammy is sorted out.
It’s goodbye and thanks to Biss, though.

Hmm - I don't know. He's very highly rated in the Championship - would have a much higher profile if Derby supporters were anything like as noisy as Leeds (and of course, Derby aren't charging away at the top end of the division!)

Agree. He's done well this season, but not outstandingly. If we were to put him up for sale now, I doubt if we'd get much more than Leeds offered a year ago. In a year or two's time though ............................

CBs mature later than others, so at 21 Ostigard is ahead of the curve.

Similarly, I think White has had a very good debut PL season with just the odd error/rush of blood.

I would prefer we sold White to fund a striker, rather than Bissouma. It would still leave us well served at the back with Veltman/Dunk/Webster first choices and Burn/Ostigard/Clarke as backup.

When it comes to Clarke I think what will happen is that he will get the chance in pre-season and if Potter likes what he sees he will stay, if he doesnt he will get sold with decent profit. Its a win-win situation.

White... Im sure his value has increased. He's not been phenomenal but good and there's always question marks if you can make the transition to Premier League, which he showed he could meaning his value should have increased. A couple of the so called "top 6" teams got mulitple defenders worse than him and would happily buy him for say £40m. Question is if the club would accept such a bid or develop him further.

As for Östigård, I think his "I want to be in the plans next year or I'll leave" statement comes a year too early, so I can see him leave unless the club persuades him that in the long term he got a decent chance if he just agrees to go on loan for another year (preferably to another top league, like Bundesliga).

Unlike White & Östigård, Clarke is left footed, I think that counts massively in his favour as Potter seems to genuinely want left footers on the left (see Burn & March), he also has age and experience on his side compared to others which is exactly what we need at the moment with our poor on-pitch game management.

Dunk, Veltman & Webster are also right footed although the latter is profoundly two footed; I actually decided that he was in fact left footed after watching the warm-up against Sheff Utd and seeing him curl the ball both ways with his left peg.

Whatever happens I think a left-footed defender of some kind (likely Clarke but possibly someone else) will be brought in, with White next season starting in the Bissouma role like vs City and Leeds.

I also remember Potter taking a look at Clarke whilst at Swansea and was watching him just after we appointed him manager. He’s obviously a player he pushed to sign so will give him every chance.

Interestingly, Ostigard has switched to the left side of the three at Coventry today - is he trying to send a message back to base that he can do a left-sided job too?

Not so good for other loanees (or recent departures) today. Clarke and O'Hora both appear to be out - presume injured? Molumby and Gyokeres still can't get a game (bench warming today - as was Longman at Wimbledon, who were doing very well without him!). Sanders replacing the injured Liam Bridcutt for Lincoln - big shoes to fill, and the natives are not impressed; doesn't look as if the manager is either - pulled off at half time.

Roberts back in favour at Rochdale, in a back three, and Richards has scored for Doncaster (but not until they were 3-0 down!)

Another cracker by Richards too, I'm looking forward to his end of season highlights reel!

I doubt the Coventry manager would be interested in helping Ostigard 'send a message'.

Both O'Hora and Sanders have left permanently.
