Hopefully we're now past the stage of flogging off the family jewels to the first bidder. It's not - or shouldn't be - about survival anymore. There's a new stadium in the offing, with funding SURELY in place, and a more pressing need to get into the Championship in time for the opening fixture. Micky needs to build on what we've got already. If T.Elphick fulfils the promise shown this season then he'll be worth more this time next year, and in the meantime Micky can consolidate a defence built around Elphick & Lynch. The signing of Hawkins looks like a good omen also.

Would be a disaster for the Albion, IMHO... and, may I suggest, I could see it being a big mistake for TE too... hasn't worked out for many of our recent leaving players, with exceptions, of course...

We should try to keep him at least until xmas then sell him if need be in the jan transfer window for 3m once he's proved himself again

If true I would be sad to see him go. Was looking forward to a couple of promotions with Elphick and Lynch as the bedrock.

Surely this is the exact time we should be holding on to our young talent, not flogging it off?

I don't think the footballing world works like that sadly! 'Erm sorry Wolves, you can't have him now, but if you wait six months we'll sell him for double? How does that sound?'. This club cannot afford to turn down a £1.5m bid for a player, we clearly need the cash.

If these rumours ARE true (which i doubt) then I would be sad to see him go,

The difficult thing is its just about the right sort of offer for the board to take notice and seriously consider.
This time last year the lad had only played a handful games remember...

decent offer and worth considering if its genuine i reckon IMHO

We sold Adam Virgo for £1.5m and look what happened to him! As much I love Tommy Elphick, that money is too good to turn down.

He's a naturaly gifted defender, rarely puts a foot wrong is superb in the air and a good reader of the game. However, I would take the 1.5 million and strengthen the squad.

Not sure about that. Unless you think the £1.5m valuation is way overpriced, we might have to buy a similar player in that position to not lose out on playing personel and yeah you've guessed it the market should dictate a buying price of £1.5m to replace him !!

Of course if we have players coming through that could slip into Elphicks boots then its a thought, otherwise it's a weakening of the squad.

Sunderland website says McShane is 183cms and Brighton website says Elphick is 180cms so it probaby is right! I always thought McShane was alot shorter than that mind.
I think these statistics are often wrong, I do find it hard to believe that Elphick is shorter just from seeing them both. Elphick is around the same height as Butters I thought? He can't be under six foot, I'm sure of it.

Dont totaly rely on those figures.

It is always an advantage for players to get another inch or two !!!

I remember having a debate about Lampard.

I assumed that Lampard was about 5'10'', but the stats showed 6'00''. Not too sure about that !

Elphick looks probably 6'00'' and no smaller than Mcshane, if anything Elphick looks taller.

Do we need to sell? Obviously, we would have to eventually, but right now? It would be wise for Elphick to gain a bit more experience before jetting off. I would be delighted to receive £1.5m for a guy with less than 50 games to his name, but gutted to see him go.
