. Talking of sell on do we have one on Barry because 10% of 10-15 mill would be very nice and an unexpected bonus

No, DK negotiated a one off further fee, something like a million all in from memory

I have heard Elphick to Wolves for 1.5M from another Championship manager who I know well. He was after Elphick for his northern team but got priced out by Wolves.

If he does go I hope Knight gives all the 1.5 millon to Micky to bring in more than 6 players

I wouldn't sell Elphick for £1.5 million, I believe he will get even better, and as he cost us just the price of developing him through our youth system, why should we have to sell.

By keeping him, i believe we will be far more likely to gain promotion, which could mean the club benefits financially far more than just his transfer fee and staying down would.

We should be looking to build up a side that will be a championship side when we first play at Falmer, and players like Elphick are the type of players we need to achieve this, If Mcshane is good enough for the premiership and Elphick can be a better player than him, then maybe waiting, rather than excepting the first offer for Elphick would be better for the club, and player, by getting us a higher transfer fee and also by giving Elphick more time and experience he needs to be a top player.

Would you knock it off with this sensible posting crap...?

If Elphick has an agent - and doubtless he has as they all have these days - I am sure that his agent will be hassling the club to sell him so I am sure we will do so.
I hate to agree with the orange one here but I am with Simon Jordan on the subject of agents

Players are priced waaay over what they're really worth.

£1.5million seems about right then.

completly agree. hang on to him for a few more year, not only will we get more money for him but we will have the benifits of having him in our team.

You can't keep a player if he wants to go, and I expect he soon will.

How much did Paul McShane go to Sunderland for? I'd suggest that Elphick is a better prospect than McShane who is too small to ever be a top level centre back in England.

Manchester United did an exchange deal with West Bromwich Albion that swapped McShane and Luke Steele for Tomasz Kuszczak.

Sunderland paid West Brom £1.5m for McShane, with clauses that could lift the figure £2.5m.

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Sunderland | Sunderland sign defender McShane

Tommy Elphick is 5'11". Paul McShane is 6'0".

Speaking of the Tangoed One, there is more bitterness from him in today's papers, re John Bostock, the 16 year old who (not unreasonably I'd say) fancies the glamour of Spurs more than the decrepitude of Selhurst Park. What 16 year old wouldn't?

Anyway, Jordan has spoken, thus:

"He [Bostock's stepfather] looked me in the eye on three occasions and categorically assured me that the boy wanted to stay at Palace. Then he tells me that a member of our coaching staff, some mythical Keyser Soze figure, told him John wasn't Neil Warnock's type of player and that he had no future at the club.

"That's a blatant lie, the man is a bare-faced liar. It's all about money, which is pitiful when it reaches the level of a 16 year old. If John had wanted to join Tottenham then fair enough, just say so. Why did we have to go through the whole charade of his stepfather's litany of lies?

"They've renewed their season tickets for next season, but I will be refunding them and sending them back".

:lolol:

I love it when Jordan comes over all moralistic. Isn't it strange how everyone he ever seems to have dealings with is branded a lying, cheating, double-crossing, disloyal bastard? How unlucky for him that he, the great moral crusader, always picks them. What are the odds, eh?

I've got a mirror if you want to look in it sometime, Simon :lolol:

Is it me, or is this question becoming the new 'fixtures?'

Probably just me...

Better get it on a t-shirt....

Wolves have just signed Sam Vokes as well, so wouldn't be suprising if they've been sniffing around league 1.

It would be a blow, but can't argue with that sort of money.

I've always said it's Lynch I'd be disappointed to lose of our current defenders. He's a PROPER footballer. My definition of a perfect centre-half. Elphick's a decent enough league one defender, but he's got no skill or football brain. Bit slow as well. Anything over £1m and I'd bite a club's hand off.

I doubt whether the rumour is true, however, would you accept that just maybe the buying club might not agree with your assessment of Elphick of having 'no skill' and 'no footballing brain' and they might not agree that he is 'a bit slow as well'.

As I don't have two halfpennies to rub together, all this talk of millions for a footballer is amazing.

Who else walked for the "buy a player" fund, and is gobsmacked to see these figures bandied about?

i think that would be a fair fee for a player with 40 odd games under his belt in league one but would be gutted to see him go

Good business at 1.5 million, however i am sure Dick is smart enough to to bring in some players that will "excite " season ticket sales before he is sold.
