Brighton/London marathon training

I also ran? (& walked) Steyning today

coming up:

Compton 40 April 3
Brighton April 18
London April 25
Three Forts May 2
South Downs June 12

I also have Abingdon booked in October, may well be doing the Downland Challenge 30, and, perhaps, a few other longer ones before then.

Hurah! It seems that I am not the only regular marathon runner on NSC.
So how did you do today?

I took the weekend off (owing to the fact we had 5 kids to look after) so the plan is for a cheeky 8 miler (running with weights) this lunchtime and 18 miles tomorrow.

Do you do any weights?

I was given a weight plans for my legs and it does seem to help

I don't to be honest, but three of my weekly runs are now done with those hand held weights.

About three weeks ago I decided to use weights whilst running, and have committed to drinking no alcohol until after the race. In that time, I can't believe what an improvement I've seen in my times so I'll be sticking with it. Those weights are only about £3 each from Sports Direct and seem a cracking investment. I recommend them!

Yeah I have some as well, someone got them for my secret santa! Its not the worlds most complicated exercises, just lunges and dips with the barbell and calf raises.

My last weekend drinking this week and it will only be a few at football.

f***ing hell Gerbils, that's a decent time.

I'm looking at taking on the Paris Marathon next April.

That is a great time. I guess you're looking for 3 hours in the marathon?

I'm going to run from Osborne Villas to just beyond Saltdean and back tonight. I'm off on my holidays tomorrow but I hope to get in 2 eight milers and a twelve whilst away. I'm not sure how good Courchevel 1850 is for long distance running though. I sense it could be hilly.

After I return it's 3 more weeks then the taper. The taper looks like a run-round-the-block compared to my current milage.

That is well respectable!

A 20 miler on sunday for me & 22 next week. Then the taper.
Am anticipating 3.30 for the marathon.

Looks like you will break the 3hr?

My Aim is 3hrs 30 as its my first one.

If i can get to 21 miles in same sort of time on the day I can do that.

If you keep up this level of training you'll have time to spare.
