..if you want to be hard core and get up early, at the moment the tide is low enough so you can run on the beach on the sand pretty much all the way from Hove Lagoon to the marina. 6am onwards will do it.

Forget this idea. I stumbled in a submerged hole this morning. Went flying, got drenched by the sea, covered in sand and have a bruised red old-lady style leg. :(

I think it was left by one of them fishermen types digging for worms. Grrrrrrr.

Did any one see you? I went for a burton for absolutely no reason at all the other week whilst running near Portslade seafront. I felt such a goose. No permanent damage I hope?
6 miler for me tonight.

I have only just recovered from a virus I picked up a month ago, and it has put me back about 3 weeks, which is bloody annoying. My target time has now been revised and put back by ten minutes. :(

In an effort to claw back this lost time, I've decided on NO alchol whatsover until after the run, *and* all my running (except for my weekly long run) is being done carrying 2kg in weights, in an effort to rebuild my body strength.

My Ipod has died took it to Apple and although helpful they couldn't make it sync to either a PC or a Mac. Training without the Nike device is awful I tried last night, think I did 3 miles. I am biting the bullet today and buying a Nano:rant:

Also, the new Hot Chip album is damn fine. Their best yet?

Yes and YES.

Saw them @ Brixton last weekend and it sounds even better live than on record. I recommend catching them play this album if you can because it was up there with the best gigs I have ever seen. Added bonus of catching Simian Mobile Disco live for the first time (other than at Glastonbury when I was a bit too far gone to enjoy them) and they were excellent also.

Anyway, I'm back on the running tip. Not enjoying the wind at the moment but hey ho.

I've read some great reviews of the gigs they're doing. Hopefully they will annonce a few more dates, or another tour. No doubt they will be doing the festival circuit.

They seem a lot more confident on this album, and as a collective seem to have found themselves. Whilst the last and previous albums had some great moments they did seem a little lost at times. I cannot stop playing the opening song on the album.

There was a youngish fella walking his dog about 20 metres behind me but I'd got up and limped off before he caught up with me. And some bloke digging for worms.

No permanent damage, and thankfully I didnt twist anything but my shin feels very tender and there is swelling on the left side of my shin. A pack of peas will sort that out. I think all things considered it is probably my pride which is hurt the most; I was having my own little chariots of fire moment, thinking I was big and clever by running on the beach and running through puddles and surf...and ended up looking a complete nob sprawled in the water spitting out sand.

Just got back from a 5 mile run with a colleague. It's really odd though, I wanted to do a steady, fairly "slow" run, but actually found it much easier to run at a quicker pace. Is anyone else finding this to be the case on their easy runs?

Glad it's not just me. I found myself running with a colleague at a certain pace, but it was quite uncomfortable, so we upped it quite significantly and I found this much easier. I'm wondering whether it's anything to do with the extra pre and post-run stretching I've been doing all week.

I found sprinting really painfull as well at the start of the football season, I guess your body just gets used to certain pacing.

I keep on picking up niggling injuries, My shoulder seems to have something wrong now

The weather forecast is good this weekend, so as my knee doesnt do running, I am going to cycle the Brighton Marathon course.

Now idea what to listen to on my ipod though

A Queen song springs to mind.

Do divulge how deep we have to go into Ovingdean old chap. I am none to familiar with that area.

I'm with you on this. I did a quick short run yesterday. I'm feeling quite fit at the moment and I think mentally I know the shorter distances are relatively easy so I just power away from the off.
