... Locals, however, will be offered half price tickets as part of a membership scheme announced this week.

Anyone with a BN1, BN2, BN3 or BN41 postcode can register for an annual membership at just £1 – a nominal fee to cover the cost of the membership card. Students studying at either of Brighton and Hove’s two universities will also be eligible.

That card will then entitle them to adult, student or senior tickets for just £7.50. Under 15s will be just £5.

A membership scheme implies that they think there are local people who will want to go up more than once. That I find very very hard to believe.

"Oh look mummy I can see the crumbly West Pier."

"Yes darling, but we could see that from the promenade.

"Oh look Daddy I can see the sea."

"Yes, but we could see that too from the promenade."

"Mummy, Mummy, look I can see the Palace Pier."

"Yes, the pier we just walked to the end of."

"Look Daddy, now I can see even more sea."

"Yes Tommy, that's REALLY exciting."

"And now I can see another tower just like this one"

"That's the power station at Shoreham".

"Mummy I can see the roofs of lots and lots of houses."

"Yes that's interesting too."

"And Daddy now I can see even more sea."

"And even more sea."

"And even more sea."

"Mummy, Daddy, I'm bored. Are we there yet? How much further? I want to go home. Why did we have to come up this silly flagpole?"

Except it only costs a quid and if you go up once you save money anyway. And a large amount of people will go up twice IMO> With family visitors and stuff.

Anyway, back to knocking any ingenuity going.....

No, you're not SAVING money but going up the thing, you're SPENDING money.

And it's not ingenuity, it's a fecking eyesore.

Loving gthe half price for residents scheme. Will definitely by signing up for that. I think this is a wonderful addition to our city. It is so ludicrously huge, it is bold and over the top much like Brighton itself. I am confident this will be a hit.

This. Do not get the moaning about it, I urge people to wait until it is completely finished, lit up and working. I cannot wait to get on it myself.

That area of the seafront already looks vastly improved even with a few hoardings remaining.

oh dear. how long did that take you to think up and type? did you know that kids use their imagination, get excited, love going on adventures with their parents, etc and will be proud to tell people where they live and why......just the same I suspect as you are when people say what a wonderful football stadium we have.

You sir are a moaning get who has nothing good to say about anything. How horribly sad it must be to live your life like that.

For your one hundred and third post since 2004 you have done very well there:down:

I have got a crick in my neck now :moo:

Yeah good point, that went horribly wrong. Sorry.
I uploaded straight from my iPhone on Dyke road, it didn't realise it would look that bad, this was obviously a rash error of judgement and highlighted a complete lack of technical skill, I'll go back to reading with the odd reply.

Crossing the A270 on the footbridge at Kingston Lane Shoreham I noticed the pod not far off the top.

Does anyone know if it's still at commissioning stage or now in operation?

The base of it is still basically a building site. Looks like its still a few months away from taking paying customers.
